I did not read the indictment but I do worry if it's some version of RICO.

That is awfully hard to prove and awfully easy to attack via motion practice. Ken White has a joke about it

RICO is not that hard to prove if you have the right facts. That's Count 1 of the indictment. Georgia's RICO is broader than the federal statute and includes more predicate acts/crimes.

No deep legal analysis. Just feel there had to be cosmic justice for the treatment of Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. That deserves serious consequences

My understanding of RICO is that it allows prosecutors to tell a broader story including multiple acts that support an overall criminal enterprise, in this case fake electors, phone calls, false claims, threats, etc for overthrowing the election in GA. Willis has successfully prosecuted several RICO cases.

Y'all should be very scared right now. If the government can do this to Trump, then they can also do it to Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis.

Is it too late for any of these defendants to cop a deal as a witness? Or is it likely Ga has all the witnesses it needs?

Wow, 161 acts listed in the RICO indictment. Amazing to see it all printed. Just stunning how much potential crime was going on through that time. Almost seems as if the idea was that if they commit so much crime as to normalize it, they wouldn't get charged with any of it.

They had 30 unindicted co-conspirators, with a lot of them known to the GJ. I'd imagine that there might be some deals though to make it easier to either nail Trump and some of the other higher ups (e.g., Giuliani) or add new charges against them.

Defendants have until noon August 25th to turn themselves in per Willis announcement.

She intends to try them together- 19 defendants and probably 3 times that number of lawyers. what a circus that will be.

Listening to the talking lawyer heads on TV who say that Willis only has to get convictions on 2 of the 161 crimes to get a RICO conviction which carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 5 years in prison.

I would hope she has a few cooperating defendants.
She will never try them together.
No we have to navigate and separate , AI, Trolls, Ideologues, Morons and Quackens oh my. Conspiracy!

I wonder how many will actually take the stand though? That could reduce some of the time and issues. Still seems like a lot for one case.

I would imagine Willis is hoping that some of the co-defendants don't like the idea of a minimum 5-year sentence in Georgia, and cop plea deals that turn on the others. Doubtful all decide to go to trial. Wouldn't surprise me if a few all turn together and make someone like Sidney Powell out to be the "real" ringleader, and try to throw her under the bus.

Yeah. Although she did say it, I can’t see a trial for 19 people happening simultaneously. Might have just been something she said for effect.

Giuliani pioneered the RICO Laws to take down the mob, now he’s about to go to prison on those very same RICO charges. Life really does come at you fast.
