Townsen Thomas update: 2024 Outfielder Townsen Thomas - a Florida Gator Commit Ranked #2 In Her Class - Moves to Texas Bombers 18U Team - Extra Inning Softball
Wow. If CTW can just get enough quality depth at pitching to go with the other players we are getting the lady gators OUGHT to be a real threat to the Sooners.
Pitchers can now have both feet off the ground without being called for an illegal pitch and other rule changes. https://www.ncaa.com/news/softball/...ng-surface-while-delivering-pitch-next-season
I can’t stand rules…unnecessary rules. Common Law, Natural Law, The Golden Rule. Most everything else can take a hike. Jmo of course
This might be of interest for your review.... Rules 1/17/2023 | Swamp Gas Forums I'm joking of course.
Charla and Texas smoke defeated the USSSA PRIDE 5-4 tonight in game 1 of the champ series. down 3-0 in the first inning Charla hit a 2 run double to get the smoke on the board. The winning hit was a home run by Janae Jefferson.
I think Gwen Svekis just gave a shot out to Walton on AU. She's mic'ed up. Hard to hear her for sure with her catcher's mask on. They asked her who taught her to bust butt and back up every grounder to first base. I'm pretty sure she said, "Coach Walton when I was with USA." Someone asked why Walton coaches USA. The good reasons are numerous. Something like this is behind the scenes. So, some recruit is considering UF and knows Gwen....what kind of recommendation do you think she will give? Relationships mean a million dollars.
As I said earlier, Josie Muffley is a stud. She is just doing what Josie does in AU. She is a full time presence just by the way she plays the game. And Sis Bates is a dream. What a wonderful, positive, upbeat, inspirational person. If Sis had at least an average shortstop arm, she would be considered one of the best that ever played the game. She probably should be in any event.
Kudos to the relentless efforts to seek out information on prospective pitchers, et al, for our Gators to you guys/gals.
It seems Coach Walton has such high hopes for the 2024 team and is very excited about the incoming freshmen as well as next year's class. So I have to believe he's working his tail off to find another couple of pitchers who can compete at the SEC level and work with our 2 new young pitchers.
I have zero doubt Walton understands the problem and the need. My concern is how does he accomplish the task? Portal closed. Nobody left to recruit in the 2023 class. Unless he can find a grad transfer, I don't see how he adds anyone before the December portal. Someone said that isn't a wide open portal either....just for grads and those that can get a qualifying waiver. I was not led to believe that and can't find anything that confirms that.
To the best of my understanding, graduates can transfer at any time. There is no portal now. So we could get a transfer to enroll for fall and participate in Fall Ball, or we could get someone to transfer into the spring semester and be eligible for the season. I would prefer the former but would be happy for the latter, except for the waiting.
NCAA Rules Committee just adopted several changes to softball rules for next year. I can't figure out what's different in the new obstruction rule. Can anyone explain?
