so poor mom and pop farmers don't have to sell their last 40 acres to put off starvation? we subsidize sugar so ti can kill us and our environment while removing farmland from the market that could be used for other food stocks needed worldwide

European infrastructure seems to be much more human-centric and going that way even more compared to the US, which is much more car centric.

 

Americans are not as well-educated as Europeans. They will hit the unhealthy food button every time, if there is any chance it might taste slightly better than the unhealthy one. And Kraft, McDonalds, and the other big companies have done tons of research to find out exactly which ingredients in food make us decide it tastes better. I doubt it. There is a reason that most of the countries on the list are tropical islands. Tropical island heat and humidity are not conducive to good exercise habits. And once you get addicted to Spam, it's all over.

 

True. There has also been huge leaps in medical interventions that have keep people alive. Not healthy but alive.

Maybe you could print this onto about 500,000,000 pamphlets and hand them out at the border, because everybody seems to think this is the place to come for opportunity. Also, clip legal immigration while you're at it. When they call you a racist, tell them we're "under construction" and will resume normal immigration activity once we get our act together and have more opportunity to offer.

When we moved from Sacramento to the Ghent, Belgium area in 1989, Ghent had 10,000 more people than Sacramento, but only occupied 61% of the area. Ghent had extensive public transport, and extensive bike paths in town and going out to outlying towns and villages. We lived 13 miles from the university and I rode my bike home every day.
