Offhand I’d guess that the US is every bit as corrupt as Russia. We just don’t call it corruption. We call it lobbying.
I don’t buy the moral equivalency calculus. Knowing that the U.S.’s longstanding goal was to use Ukraine as a gun platform, to see Putin deposed and his country weakened … what was Putin supposed to do ?
Despair setting in on both sides the Atlantic … The sense of despair is driven by massive casualties in Kiev’s counteroffensive. Blyzniuk said that most soldiers sent to the front die in just two to three days. Last week, Politico reported that Kiev had committed 150,000 troops to fight along three fronts. Nevertheless, the Pentagon admits that Ukrainian forces have failed to make any significant gains. Washington publicly claims it has provided Kiev with everything Ukraine needs to wage a successful counteroffensive. However, Western officials admitted to the Wall Street Journal that Ukrainian forces lacked critical equipment. "When Ukraine launched its big counteroffensive this spring, Western military officials knew Kyiv didn’t have all the training or weapons—from shells to warplanes—that it needed to dislodge Russian forces." The report continued, "But they hoped Ukrainian courage and resourcefulness would carry the day. They Haven’t." Anna Oliinyk, a Ukrainian soldier, told the Post that she hoped the losses would be worth the price... "We’ve got all these guys coming back from the front line without limbs," she said. "I want the price they paid to be reasonable. Otherwise it’s just useless, what they went through." Ukrainians Begin To Despair As Bloody Counteroffensive Yields Small Gains | ZeroHedge
From the the safety of another country Zelensky’s former brain speaks … Sample: Ukrainian nationalism exists only as an anti-Russian identity. My surmise: this is essentially what Putin regards as Naziism. https://x.com/mylordbebo/status/1690707213055123456?s=61
The more corrupt they are makes them a more palatable proxy. We are essentially paying off Ukraine's leaders to force their men into war. Such a strong-handed move in firing ALL the recruiting chiefs in the country, a year and a half into the conflict indicates somebody higher than Zelenskyy gave that order. Now he can say "look, I fired all those corrupt bastards." As if he didn't know it was happening all along. And you can best believe Zelenskyy is the largest benefactor of the foreign aid as well. The west was openly willing to offer him sanctuary, but him staying in country and fighting a proxy war was much more profitable. American companies are going to make hundreds of billions of dollars helping to rebuild Ukraine. War is good for business.

If that was the main goal of the U.S., then Russia could have easily defeated the U.S. . . . by NOT INVADING UKRAINE ! ! ! So what you are saying is that Vlad Putin is mentally disabled, and could not figure this out. This explains a lot.
The U.S. has been the bully on the block since WWII. We are finally witnessing the dawn of other countries standing up and declaring “Enough!”
You couldn't trust them. Many of them have some minimal level of patriotism for Russia that they either wouldn't fight, or they would turn on Ukraine.
I remember when the U.S. bullied Russia in the 1990's by helping them re-build their shattered economy. Is that the kind of bullying you are talking about?
Putin is cracking down on the pro-war opposition after years of cracking down on the anti-war opposition. The pro-war opposition is offended that Putin is not winning the war, and is criticizing him for Russia's failures in Ukraine. Putin cracks down on pro-war opposition as all-out war falters Prigo's mutiny seems to have opened the floodgates of criticism of Putin's incompetence as a military leader.
Meet the uglies who are driving us to WWIII … They’re heavily financed by the weapons industry that views wars as good business. Deeper and darker, they’re hidebound idealogues who view WWIII not as something to be avoided, but rather as a good to be pursued to ensure that no nation should emerge to challenge America’s military and economic primacy …

Seems that they may have made some substantial gains that moves their artillery within striking distance of Russian supply routes.
good news, eliminating these gunships really helps as they are big threat to armored vehicles and tanks Russia loses 40th Ka-52 Alligator, which the Kremlin calls the world's 'best helicopter gunship' (msn.com)
