Trying to figure out how you answered a question directed towards you and you got an off topic rating. Then I saw it was just OffTopic_and_Bluke.
I’m an overachiever. Not many people can get off topic responding to a direct question. Also, although it’s tough to have to just drill down to a single quality, I’d have to say that my single greatest strength is being humble.
Thank you for keeping us updated, @gatormonk and God bless. And Target corporate should 100% be penalized for lying to shareholders. In other news, Tesla stock is up 125% year to date.
Why don’t you share them instead of just posting the thoughts of others? I ask only because you do it all the time.
Meanwhile the report from Walmart one of Target's competitors. Walmart Inc. Provides Update for Second Quarter and Fiscal Year 2023 One word describes America First's lawsuit against Target, that word is "frivolous".
what’s frivolous is your attempt to use the word frivolous by suggesting Walmart’s earnings protect Target from a shareholder lawsuit.
I didn't suggest that Walmart's earnings would protect Target and you know that. My point was that other big box retailers were also experiencing decreased earnings during the same period as Target and that it would be extremely difficult to attribute the lower earnings of Target to the boycott by the triggered snowflakes of the transphobic right. Given the difficulty of proving causality the lawsuit was essentially a frivolous form of political theater.
The group that promoted a boycott, has sued the company they were boycotting after a drop in the stock price? Dumbest lawsuit I've heard this year
Your conclusion is based upon nothing but suposition. Walmart's numbers, without a WHOLE LOT MORE, mean nothing. That was my point. Besides, the Target suit is based upon a loss of $15B market cap, which can be shown to be directly related to the tuck and roll manskinis. Also, it appears to have a fraud element alleged. (I have not seen the lawsuit). I dont think it has anything to do with sales, per se. I may be wrong, because I have not read the complaint.
Still have to establish causality. Target was not the only retailer to suffer lower earnings. By the way while Target's sales were lower than expected (they still increased), the lower earnings were attributable to higher expenses not lower sales. From Target's most recent earnings report (1st quarter 2023 reported May 17, 2023) The lawsuit is still political theater and it will almost certainly fail. Target Corporation Reports First Quarter Earnings
Left-wingers love to what about Trump and straw man. The lawsuit involves Target providing misleading data to their shareholders. If that can be proven and can be tied to realized losses by said shareholders, I'd say it's just as good as most other lawsuits.
