That’s the choice some make. It’s on them and no one else.

I haven’t been in a grocery store ever, that didn’t have a produce department with fresh veggies and fruit.

If you want to eat trash then have at it. It’s the kids that are fed junk that’s the issue.

    My 2 cents

I’m an agnostic on diet. My surmise is that our choice of foods doesn’t wield the influence over health we think it does.

Watch TV and fat is celebrated. That will be the next protected class.

Soon there will be a fat month with parades, lots of food and drinks.

It will become a hate crime if you say or do anything to a fat person.

FWIW I’m 6-0, 265, and obese so I can’t make fun of myself and other fat people.

Even the healthiest people don't eat everything exclusively from the produce department. Come on now.

I go 6-0 170 and don’t rag on fat people.

When people ask me how I stay so slim I tell them I chose slim parents.

At last check, body shape is the single most heritable characteristic save for height.

Poor diet (processed foods) both quality and quantity.
Sedentary lifestyle - not enough movement.
Isolation & loneliness - less connectivity to others.
Tech/Info - we know anything about everything and it burdens us.
    Guns/Drugs, etc.
Gators underperforming for over a decade.

    That's my list.

Never said they did but it’s there. Come on man back at ya.

You can buy canned foods without salt, zero sugar, etc. Or you can buy it with. The choices are there. Fact

You would be shocked at the products with corn syrup. Fat free half and half, Miller Lite, etc. Other countries do not allow that crap in their food. Meanwhile, every politician is in Iowa sucking up to corn producers.

I would not be shocked as I read the ingredients.

Ny wife and I cook. We buy fresh produce and make it the way we like. Sometimes really healthy and other times not. Example, fresh squash or zucchini. Cook with butter. Lol

When I read your posts, I think of that character in Better Call Saul - I can’t remember his name - who sits in his darkened house draped in aluminum foil.

You kinda missed the point, though. Why are those things in our food to begin with? American brands are sold in Europe WITHOUT those additives/corn syrup. If they can do it in Europe and make a profit, why won’t they do it here?

I’ve spent a lot of time in Europe, and while Europeans are fatter than a generation ago, they are still much healthier than Americans. The only thing worse in terms of marketing than fast food advertisements are those for pharmaceuticals, neither of which you’ll see in most European countries. We restrict advertisements for tobacco and most alcohol, but allow it for fast food, which is every bit as deadly. It mystifies me.

The one upside of our recent Time of Hysteria is that Americans took a break from their incessant whining over getting GMOs in their food.

They rolled up their sleeves and took them in the arm.

I’ve been to London. I have eaten food there.
    It was bland and terrible.
    Next question please.

    Sorry, I did miss it.

Corn syrup is a cheap sweetener. It’s about money.

    Preservative is another reason.

MSG, sulfites, artificial colors to make food look appealing. Bad juju.

Food manufacturers are merely responding to the public demand for cheaper and tastier foods. This claim that food manufacturers are out to kill us is infantile.

Absolutely, plus I also worry that even buying fresh produce and meats here in the US exposes us to too many chemicals/pesticides.

Aren’t growth hormones and antibiotics listed in the new food pyramid?
