Just my opinion, but I don’t think the immigration issue has hurt DeSantis nationally, at least compared to Trump at least. Maybe DeSantis going as far on some other issues such as abortion did. But I think Trump is beating him so badly mostly due to differences in celebrity, personality, charisma, and cult leader tricks as opposed to significant policy differences.

The best thing DeSantis could do for his campaign is to not campaign. He can replace campaign managers, fire staff, trade in his jazzy white boots for elevator cowboy boots, but he will not be able to fundamentally change his personality or his core beliefs. That is what people are reacting to and it is reflected in the polls.

I wonder how much of his drop is due strictly to his personality and how much, if any, is his politics. His vendetta against Disney, the benefits of slavery ... even some Republicans have to recognize that not being able to teach AP psychology is not a good thing.

Probably a combination of the two. The attacks on him by the Orange God probably also had an impact and DeSantis hasn't done himself any favors by continuing to support Trump's narrative that poor Donald is the victim of a weaponized DOJ/FBI/Biden Administration even when he has attacked (belatedly) Trump on the other issues.
