The far bigger issue is home insurance (for which I think there's already a separate thread). Insurance on our beach place went up almost 50% last year, been told to expect another 20%+ next renewal. For my commercial properties increases were 30-50%, depending on coastal proximity. And what have DeS and the Fl Leg has done to help home and business owners? Nothing but make it harder and more costly to sue insurance companies for their failure to pay claims (with the hope the insurers don't leave the state) while receiving no commitment to reduce premiums. But what good is insurance if you can't sue the insurance companies when they don't pay up? Fl markets its "no state income tax" status all over the place. Not sure DeS has quite figured out that becomes a HUGE liability when the State has to take over the home insurance market because everyone else left town, but I guess he thought he'd be POTUS by then and it would be the next guy's problem, But there's a freight train coming quickly.
There is a specific thread for just what you are talking about. Insurance rates aren't causing home prices to go up. Damn DeSantis handling Covid very well(pretty much the last good thing he did) is what is helping make Fl so attractive to people in other states. Just my opinion.
I hate to be Captain Obvious but building multi-million dollar homes on the coastline of a state where the potential for hurricanes could hit is going to cause insurance costs to rise simply because the value of the home is going up.

I've been married for almost 2 decades and had kids for 13 years of that time. Never once have the children been referred to as anything but "ours" unless there was some kind of sarcastic joking going on when one of them messed up. I can't even imagine my brain formulating a serious sentence calling them "mine" or "yours." And it wouldn't matter if I were president, if they needed a ride I would pick them up from wherever and have many times.
