His wife Casey remarked how, "And he was there to go pick up my kids when I couldn’t. And he did it with humility. And he did it with love,” she added, while holding back tears. “And I tell you what, can’t ask for a better husband than that.” What spouse doesn't say "our" kids when referring to his or her family? She can't ask for anything more than picking them up from school while she gets cancer treatments? I do more for my kids on a daily basis than that long before lunch time. If he has time to ignore his day job and galavant around the country in a Quixotic run for president, he would certainly have the time for a school pickup now and then.
Meanwhile insurance companies have fled the state and out of state investors are buying up all the homes to put on rental market. This clown needs to work on things that matter.
To be fair, in terms of picking his kids up from school, his time, demands and schedule are a little different than most of ours.
It doesn't sound quite as selfless if she says 'pick up our kids'. It sounds like something he's supposed to do because he's, you know, their father..
It is. It's like one of those gross families where the Dad complains he has to babysit the kids while Mom is out. It ain't babysitting when it's your own kids.
With DSDS (DeSantis Derangement Syndrome) out-ranging even Trump Derangement Syndrome, might I suggest that we create a whole sub forum dedicated to DeSantis ?
Wow! I am at a loss for words with how this thread got started. I guess just throwing $h!@ at the wall and making a mess today was on the agenda lol. Nothing like attacking DeSantis’s wife for not saying something perfectly and to your expectations. This thread speaks more about the hate some have than anything.
True, but he also has a lot of staff and power to manipulate his schedule. In his defense, responsible fatherhood has long been considered inconsistent with true leadership. 44 was criticized for failing to understand the importance of his time because they had a family dinner in the residence most nights and he scheduled accordingly
I think she's giving him credit for being a busy and important guy but still willing to take the time to pick up his kids personally rather than have someone else do it. I got her point, but the word "humility" was an odd choice of words to me.
in Tampa 25% of the homes are being bought by corporations. For the most part that is putting 1 out of 4 residential homes into the rental market. That's not good for home ownership. It's not good for Floridians and their children. I recommend they make it difficult for corporations to make these purchases and expensive. I don't really know exactly what that entails and how you would do it and the investors wouldn't just find a way to bend the rules. That is why you elect a leader that can come up with a solution and implement it. I am a fan of charging an entrance fee to people from out of state. The one-time fee would be a percentage of the price of home they purchase. For corporations purchasing residential real estate it would be significant. The Black Rocks and Goldman Sachs buying up all our homes needs attention now. Insurance companies fleeing the state needs attention now. Meanwhile, DeSantis team has a special agreement with the RNC, via WinRed, to hide the small donor contributions to their campaign. DeSantis gets no small donor love. Why? Because he is not for the low and middle wage earner. He is backed by the mega donors we all despise.
Nothing to see here. Would have been funnier if she said she is raising a 44 year old child as well. At least that would have been more accurate
You want to charge anyone moving to Florida extra than say me moving to Tampa? Yeah, not sure that would hold up legally if challenged. Also, doubt you could keep US businesses from buying properties. These both sound like unreasonable and/or not realistic ideas. Florida did restrict Chinese investments in Florida. The rest of your post just sounds like you complaining because you don't like DeSantis personally.
the corporate owned house doesn't get homesteaded and pays full freight on taxes. muni's love those numbers. If I sell my house to a corporation or newcomer without an exemption, the property taxes would go up over $4k per year, that adds up, and should help to keep the millage lower for those that already own here and are homesteaded
