It was within the discussion of Trask that another former Gator great came up and was discussed. Plus, it's still the summer and our threads sometimes wander for a page or two while side discussions take place. They get back on track (usually).
Hopefully, Trask is not getting that same treatment where he never gets a true opportunity. He runs too slow like Tom Brady and that will be his downfall. running ability, while definitely an asset is so completely overrated.
Looking forward to seeing Trask in action. It sounds like Mayfield will get the start this week and Trask the next.
Absolutely....Speaking of Trask, did you see that AR has added 10 pounds of muscle and is now up to 255. If he gets into the secondary, corners are going to have to make business decisions.
I was reading at least 3 different Denver Bronco's football forums when Tebow was their QB and half of the fans were great and loved everything about Tebow. The other half were kind of a split that wanted to "such for Luck" at any level... believing Elway and his pack of lies about what the Bronco's needed to do. Elway is a narcissist of the highest degree. He hated that Tebow was way more popular in Denver than he was, and that was an open fact on the boards. He hated someone else (Tebow) getting that kind of popularity in "his" town. He should be sued for his possible slander if he said untruths about Tebow in his book.I didn't read it so I don't know what he actually said. I don't blame Tebow for not showing up for their team celebration of that playoff team... the one that Tebow carried into the playoffs. Remember the "such for luck" was so obvious that the Bronco's, managed by Elway, got rid of their 2 best receivers just to sabotage Tebow and his chances of getting the Bronc's to play well at all. They need to suck badly just to get Andrew Luck from college to play in Denver. Elway should be investigated for that at the very least. Their coach, John Fox, was a drunkard and actually insulted Tebow and his skills on a video interview... and the coach actually sounded drunk while insulting his QB on that same video. The two Johns... Fox and Elway were actively trying to sabotage Tebow from the start...
TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' tightly contested quarterback competition will see Baker Mayfield get the start Friday night in the Bucs' preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Coach Todd Bowles announced the move Wednesday, saying Kyle Trask will get the start in preseason Week 2 at the New York Jets. Trask has managed to throw just four interceptions in camp, with three coming on Tuesday, whereas Mayfield has thrown nine, with turnovers being one of the biggest points of emphasis for the coaching staff. After a particularly rough day for both players Tuesday, Wednesday was a turnover-free day. Trask had back-to-back touchdowns to tight end Cade Otton, and Mayfield hit wide receiver Mike Evans and tight end Dominique Dafney for touchdowns at the goal line, with what would have been a third touchdown to Dave Wells dropped. Bucs to start QB Mayfield Friday, Trask next week
Elway didn’t draft Tebow, so he had no loyalty to him. The whole “jealous because Tebow was more popular than him” narrative also makes no sense considering Elway warmly welcomed Peyton Manning, a player who was even more accomplished and more popular than Tebow.
This combined with the moderation philosophy of forcing threads to live forever have made this site substantially less worth visiting in my opinion. I’m all for a drifting subject in a topic if they are short lived. However for the next several months anytime a news about Trask happens, we will have to come back to this single Trask megathread, wade through Tebow arguments and god knows what else to even learn that the news even happened.
Not quite the way the article paints it. "As Tebow sparked an improbable run to the second round of the playoffs that year, Elway’s wife, Janet, allegedly asked the quarterback to make an appearance at a charity event. Tebow’s brother reportedly told her it would cost $50,000, and Janet declined, saying her husband didn’t pay for such appearances.
John Elway has been a douche for as long as he’s been a known entity, and likely long before that. A very talented douche for sure, but douche through to the bone
I don't think so. I think it will continue to be just like his last year at UF, and he will make "business decisions" on the field. Meaning, he will avoid contact whenever possible and protect those shoulders to play another day.
And he was Elway's guy... an established guy in another city. Elway's first year as manager of the Broncs was Tebow's last year in Denver.
I’m guessing an all-time great with multiple championships like John Elway wasn’t jealous of anyone and simply brought in the best players he felt would win the Broncos a championship, but hey whatever narrative fits the imagination I guess
I think Kyle will make it in the NFL as a QB. He's tough, smart and has built his character (thru the adversity in high school and waiting at Florida forever) to the point he can overcome anything. It might not happen at Tampa Bay with Bowles as HC (Arians loved Kyle) but it will happen elsewhere.
It's ridiculous he's having to fight tooth and nail with Baker after patiently waiting for years. Baker is not good enough to warrant not giving Trask an opportunity to prove himself. Forget practice. Some players perform better under real pressure.
He’ll get opportunities. He’s scheduled to start the second preseason game already. Not a “real” game, but real enough, and good performances there is how you earn regular season opportunities.
