Yes, I do actually know what prosecutors do. You should really look into what has been going on here.

He doesn't realize the Florida Constitution guarantees bond as a matter of right in the overwhelming majority of cases.

I dont know man. I looked up one person on your list, the Moses kid. His lengthy criminal record (pot possession, robbery, burglary) was as a juvenile where she didnt have sentencing authority. His one adult crime seems to be not showing up in court. Are you sure you have any idea what you are posting?

This is a ridiculous claim. If a person dug through the decisions of basically every prosecutor in Florida, they could find violent crime tied to some decision. The reason DeSantis removed her is because she is a Democrat who ran on criminal justice reform and was elected on that.

If you think it's acceptable to overturn the will of the voters because they made a choice you don't like, you're a fascist like DeSantis. If the people of Orlando were unhappy with the job she did, they could have chosen not to reelect her next year. You don't get to remove elected officials because you disagree with policy decisions.

You better hope when the shoe is on the other foot one day that the people leading the state have more principles than you. Because it would be very easy for a Democratic Governor backed by a Democratic Florida Senate to just start removing Republican prosecutors and replacing them with progressives based on the precedent set by DeSantis.

What an absurd claim. The judge required Viel to post a bond in excess of $125,000. Viel did so, got out, and acted. They use cash bonds in every state court in Florida. You clearly don't understand our criminal legal system.

We have zero context here. This was a juvenile, and we have no idea why he "was released." It's not even clear from your statement if they dropped the charges.

Keith Moses faced a drug charge that carried with it a ONE-YEAR MAXIMUM. Meaning that even if the judge gave Moses the maximum sentence (unlikely), he would have been out of jail by February 2023. It was a petty marijuana possession charge, and those charges getting dropped are not abnormal.

Spare you the politics? This is the very definition of politics. You can go nitpick any prosecutor like you're doing here. DeSantis removed Worrell because she is a progressive Democrat. Voters in Osceola and Orange Counties knew that when they elected her. This was about overturning an election because DeSantis didn't like the result. You fascists can screw off with your bullshit.

Of course. DeSantis isn't going to remove a progressive prosecutor so he can replace her with somebody who would be supported by the voters. He's going to replace her with one of his lackeys.

Keep in mind that DeSantis didn't remove the Leon County prosecutor (who is a conservative law-and-order Democrat) after his office's racism scandal:
Whistleblower accuses state attorney’s office of racism, harsher punishments for Hispanic people

This is all about targeting a criminal justice reform prosecutor, just like he did with Andrew Warren. It is purely political and repugnant. Anybody who supports this is an unprincipled hack.

Yup. His comment on bond makes clear that he doesn't understand how this system works. Prosecutors rarely move for, and judges rarely grant, pretrial detention in this state because of how narrow the exceptions are too our right to pretrial release under the Florida Constitution and how demanding the pretrial detention rule and statute are to satisfy due process protections.

A black female Democrat who was completely incompetent in doing her job and deserved to be suspended.

Floridians are fed up with crime and want violent criminals locked up. We expect police and the State Attorney’s Office to work together to ensure the offenders are held to account and kept off the streets. And it is clear, based on the examples DeSantis gave, that Worrell wasn’t doing her job.

Apropos of nothing, Regressives love to talk confidently about things they have not a freaking clue about. Especially the law and the economy.

Actually, she was competent and did most of what she said she would do when running for office. The people in Orange County and Osceola County elected a progressive Democrat who ran on criminal justice reform. The fact that you think it is okay to overturn the election because you don't like the outcome says it all about you.

P.S. Violent crime is down in Orlando.
Orlando police chief says violent crime is down in the city
Smith said that despite Friday's shooting, crime has actually decreased in downtown Orlando.

He said violent crime is steadily declining — down 10% from the year prior — and shootings are down 30%.

Nothing to do with race or gender. Desi removed a white male for similar reasons, they opposed desi policies and dared to speak it out loud

BTW, for the folks insulting State Attorney Worrell and claiming she's incompetent, she is a UF alum who spent 16 years running the criminal justice program at UF Law, including teaching courses on Florida criminal law and procedure, supervising prosecution and defense clinics at the law school, and placing UF students in state attorney's and public defender's offices throughout the state.

Basically, she's very competent and knowledgeable. And our alma mater trusted her to run its program for a long time. But hey, she got on the wrong side of the Fuhrer, so who cares about the facts, eh?
