    Zoom meeting or bedroom talk?

    1. “I think someone else is trying to join.”
    2. “Sorry, my service is bad.”
    3. “Same time next week?”
    4. “Oh, we’re done? That was fast.”
    5. “I feel like there are still some openings we need to fill."
    6. “Can we record so we can watch this later?”
    7. “This can only last 30 minutes unless it’s paid for.”
    8. “Yes, Nate! ...I mean, Mike!”
    9. “Let’s skip the formalities and get down to the basics.”
    10. "Wrap it up."

Proper ranking...though sometimes it seems as if it's #1.

That's my allotment of bad jokes for the day :D

    WFH:

    Meal costs down
    No dry cleaning
    Gas use down
    Deduction
    No nights on the road
No wear and tear on car
1 hour commute each way gone

That was $600 in savings just for me a month

As well as GoToMeeting, MS Teams, Google Meet, and a whole bunch of others.

On an investment forum I participate in, there was discussion about Zoom pre-covid, and plenty were buying. I wrote a long diatribe about how there's nothing really unique about what Zoom offers, nothing to distinguish it from all of the other players in the market. Those who jumped in easily made 10x or more on their investments in about 6 months. Lol at my shortsightedness.

My other big investment fail was considering AMC a few years ago. I thought their subscription model might succeed where moviepass failed. Looked at their balance sheet and said no-thank-you. A few months later, the Reddit fueled Gamestop/AMC blowup happened.

I don’t think either missing a meme stock run or failing to foresee a pandemic are investment fails. There’s no financial analysis that would have predicted such a thing. It’s just blind luck.

I know someone who bought a huge slug of Apple (10’s of thousands of shares) when it was about 10 cents a share (split adjusted) based on todays price. Wish I had but you can’t look back.

Too late, Pandora's Box has already been opened. Companies fighting it won't be in business for very long. 95% of Gen Z prefers remote work and they are the future. 65% of Millennials prefer remote work too. I'm on the fence. I like a hybrid approach but I also hate the long commutes. I wake up, do my morning routine, make a coffee, and then walk to my office and start work at 6:30. To go into work, I have to get up 45 minutes earlier and walk into the office right after 6:30. I lose roughly an hour when I head into work. I can't speak for everyone, since there were times a long long time ago when I never even had to take the interstate and work was only a 15 minute drive away. For many years I could even run home for lunch. But I haven't had that luxury for more than 10 years.

I would think there are some financial incentives for companies as well. Work from home to attract more talent. Less office space rental costs. Less utility and maintenance expense, due to less need for office space. Less staff since office presence and building staff are not needed. Less insurance costs for on site employees. Increase in productivity per headcount, assuming you made the proper hiring decisions. Less distractions and overtime availability will be more, because said productive employee doesn't have a commute. Easier to fire people. I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting.

Some jobs obviously can't be WFH, such as Tesla factories. But if a company can execute most of its work in a WFH setup, it's counterproductive to not offer it. Of course, there will always be the ones who can't work unless someone is breathing down their neck. You just fire those people. Simple fix.

Agree with all that except as I understand the Home Office space deduction doesnt work if you are employed by someone else. You have to be a small business owner. I may be wrong.
