I was just joking about that with my wife. Your reaction to Shakespeare is probably the one most people have - old English boredom you had to sit through with teachers trying to convince you it was interesting and worth learning. When they hear Florida officials say Shakespeare is too racy and salacious, I think that will really make clear that we are dealing with unbalanced religious zealots

Of all the things wrong with DeSantis and his administration— and if anyone follows my posting history they’d know I believe the wrongs are legion — this is near the bottom. The engagement of counsel is in most instances relationship driven. People want the advice of those they know and trust. I say this in spite of DeSantis’ unparalleled record of cronyism in every hinge and corner of his administration.

Florida students are going to have the privilege of watching PragerU cartoons where current school kids travel back in time to interact with historical figures.

Here they will learn from Christopher Columbus, a paragon of virtue, that slavery wasn't so bad and from a warped portrayal of Frederick Douglass that BLM is bad and white people were great thanks to abolition.

    .

The video above, courtesy of Kareem Abdul Jabbar, is a Prager institute video discussing the five biggest reasons why Black people have problems in our country. This is one of the most repulsive, racist videos you’re ever going to see. I thought we had laws enacted in Florida, that if kids are going to feel harmed by certain subject matter that is discussed in class, then that subject matter cannot be taught. This is the disgraceful kind of crap that DeSantis and his minions intend to have taught in our schools. There’s not a chance in hell that I would send a child of mine or grandchild of mine to a public school in Florida.

What is Kareem's connection to the video? I can't imagine that he supports that message. Also stating the obvious, but . . . indoctrination!!!

But, DJT was not a culture warrior. Dear leader's "anti-woke" message isn't going to endear him to the Trump base and sure as hell won't reach across the aisle to get independent voters on his side. Too late for him to moderate his position(s) now.

He doesn’t support it. I will see if I can post his entire newsletter.

The Frederick Douglass one is both historically inaccurate and right-wing indoctrination.

Oh he absolutely was a culture warrior, although almost certainly not a true believer on an issue like abortion or religion. He was just pandering to Evangelicals by promising them the moon.

But he did embrace the LGBTQ community unlike dear leader. DJT courted the evangelical vote and how the hell they fell for him is beyond me.

America, you've been warned," Miami Herald emphasizes, offering five ways the 2024 GOP hopeful has "violated his own principles" as the Sunshine State's leader: (1) "quashing dissent," (2) "demonizing minorities," (3) "attacking academics," (4) "targeting media," (5) "consolidating power."
