Yeah, that one surprised me. They were good a while ago... but 30 years is forever in CFB.

Exactly, the fact of the matter is that UF has one vote and regardless of whether we don't want FSU in the SEC if the other schools override us, then UF will get the ATM treatment and be told to go to the corner and shut up. Of course we could say we are taking our ball and going home, and the BIG would likely salivate at the chance of getting UF, but does playing in the BIG excite anyone on this board? It certainly doesn't move the needle for me.

I believe the SEC needs to stand pat. They have the right amount of teams and any more (outside of ND) would just dilute the schedule and not really help much on the per team $$ side of things.

I didn't know whether to post this here or the Conference Expansion thread.

If true, this puts to rest any thought of the Holes joining either the SEC or Big Whatever.

I set it at the proper time and it's about 2:00-3:00 until you hear the Saudis might actually be involved.

Interesting. If ref$u and 7 other ACC teams leave and start up their own network, what makes that any different to the average football spectator than the ACC as it is now? It would be the same boring teams playing each other and why would viewership (and therefore money) be any better than what they have right now?

Sounds interesting on paper but once they pull out of the ACC, they would lose their power 5 status.
The CFB playoff system has no obligation to let them participate.

How would forming a new private conference sit with the NCAA and federal laws that govern public universities?

Cam Newton to Auburn and CJ to Clemson were well after the Bowdens were at those schools. It was Tommy at Clemson, not Jeff.

Do you really want to go to Ann Arbor, Columbus, East Lansing, or Madison in late October or November. Us in the Big10 would be a terrible idea. No rivalries, long trips, and only Michigan and Ohio State who will draw fans to the Swamp. Our leaving for the Big would be the best thing to happen to fsu since we went on probation in 1984.

I'd rather they had to travel thousands of miles to their closest conference games not played at home. They aren't going to do well during November in away games.

It may also be beneficial to keep the Big 10 out of the south. They already make more than the SEC. Not a bad strategy to keep them off a state like Florida to improve their media deals.

The only Big teams that would benefit are the same two that already do just fine recruiting in Florida, and those are ohio state and meatchicken. I'd love to see scum home games against Northwestern, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, etc. You think the stadium is empty now, just wait.

It is financially beneficial for the Big 10 to break into the southern media markets. They already make a killing with their TV deals, now they've added west coast markets. Who knows where they'd end up with a southern media market like Florida in the mix. I don't want either scenario to happen, but it's looking like it will so personally I'd rather keep our rivals close where we have say in the outcome.

Tommy Bowden was the head coach at Clemson when they snagged Spiller... but the point is that even after the Bowdens we gone they still cheated. I mentioned that FACT in my post. I also said that Cam got there after Terry Bowden...

Yeah, you're right... Oops. I meant Tommy Bowden... their like rats... I get them confused... Well Terry was easy to remember becasue he was Auburn's head coach, but the others get confusing.

At any rate there are too many cheating schools that want to get into the SEC and we have to say "NO" to FSU and Miami. Trouble seems to follow those two schools. This is the main point... NO more Florida schools in the SEC.

It's funny that the Gator haters at the SEC Rant mostly (not all of them) want to add at least FSU. They have no idea that if we allow them into the SEC they will take recruits from their schools too. They will buy them just like some of our cheating SEC schools do... in the end they will get less talent too... idiots.

Miami and FSU do NOT belong in the SEC.

I'd think if they are after the southern media market that Georgia Tech would be a better choice than scum. fsu and Tech, with one in a Florida market and the other in the most populated city in the south would make more sense.

I agree but I’m sure TAMU felt the same way about Texas. TAMU gambled and joined the SEC and it has paid off in spades for them and for once they weren’t little brother to UT.
Now UT comes running and we let them in.
legit question: How did UT and OU get in to the SEC? Was it as simple as a vote by the schools? If so I wonder what the vote count was, and who voted how, the breakdown?

And folks don’t discount that our SEC brethren and especially our rivals would love to screw us any chance they get. You don’t think UT/UGA would love for us to have to deal with the Nolies in our home state? Me thinks maybe they would….I don’t have any answers and I will be pissed beyond measure if FSU gets in after the way they ran and hid with their woosie schedule for 30 years, but even in a conference, self-interest always rules and the Vols and Dawgs might just vote in FSU and/or UM.

But do we want FSU in a conference where they potentially make more financially than UF?

I think there is some value in trying to keep the Big10 out of the southern states.

Do you think it's worth the hassle to Gator nation having FSU and/or Miami getting that easy ride to money and prestige in the SEC? Texas is a well establish school with tons of big money donors. They have their own history of great teams in their past... for much longer than FSU.

Plus A&M is not a charter member of the SEC like the Gators are, why worry about them and which team they may or may not want added into the SEC brotherhood of teams. A&M really should NOT be a voting member that decides who should or should NOT be added. They themselves are a Johnny come lately team, relativity speaking.

Texas is a big enough state, and Texas does add many more people viewers to the SEC market. I also don't remember that team being as dirty and cheating like FSU and Miami have been in the past.

Texas is a prestige university compared to may other SEC schools... and they are far more like us than FSU. FSU will only eat into our recruits even more if we give them a financial lifeline. Forget that, if you want them then that is on you, but I say NO freaking way.

Also, if we add more schools we have to play more SEC teams per year, we barely decided on an 8 SEC teams schedule... do you think we would go for 9, 10 or 11 game SEC schedule. There are many things to consider here.

Why complicate our schedule even more... I say we wear this 16 team conference thing for a few more years. What's the rush to change and add?

Just for fun... could you make an 18 SEC team conference schedule for me?

Do we play every team every other year or every 3rd year? And how do we play UGA every year in an 18 team conference?

That's a 9 game SEC schedule... if we want to keep our UGA game.

1 Permanent game for everyone, for us it's Georgia, the other 8 rotating each year, everyone is played home and away in 4 years.
