Actually, in Florida you must have a form on file signed by a parent in order to treat ANY kind of injury to a student. This includes bandaids and ice.

I’m assuming that in that particular instance they’d call the parent immediately and obviously in a serious incident they’d deal with it first and worry about parents later.

I always kept bandaids in my classroom and gave them out when needed. After the whole “permission slip” thing I just told them where they were in the cabinet. Could I have gotten in trouble for that? Maybe but I didn’t really care.

After the Parkland school shooting, so many seemed to agree that more mental health care was the answer. Moms for Liberty do not.

Moms for Liberty says no to mental health care in schools, but it's Florida law

Why doesn't Parental Rights mean that you can opt your kid out? Moms For the Confederacy wants it to mean to opt everyone's kid out

I read a perfect metaphor for this situation; as a parent “you can pick the meal but you can’t pick the menu”

Opt YOUR kid out if the subject matter offends you.

That is a great metaphor. Metaphors are such powerful rhetorical devices and that is great

Protect the children from trauma. Children getting along is a political ideology

CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- Some Conroe ISD trustees want to crack down on displays of racial inclusivity and pride, saying they represent, "symbols of personal ideologies."

One trustee says a child was traumatized by a poster showing different colored children holding hands and had to switch classrooms.

School officials against this say a policy prohibiting political displays, not related to curriculum, already exists. The trustee who brought this forward didn't realize that.

When it was brought to her attention, the trustee said she wants that policy to go further. Citing "a number of parents reaching out to her about supposed displays of personal ideologies in classrooms," Melissa Dungan asked her fellow board members to crackdown on them.

aren't Texas schools required to have "In God we Trust" displayed in the classroom?
