I do not see UVA's Admin or its alumni being interested in being part of the SEC. My bet is the Big10 for UVA if the ACC dissolves, otherwise they are staying put. The ACC is almost a perfect fit for UVA.

    Kentucky too (to block Louisville).

I hope the SEC stays at 16. I don't think bigger is necessarily better.

I remember UGa and USCe and UF have had an agreement - but having KY in there too would strengthen our position.

Texas and UVA are very, very different. Texas is interested in competing at the highest levels of college football and doing everything needed to make that happen. UVA is not.

Money talks. A smaller conference will get dwarfed by a national conferences that effectively becomes a league

I know this isn't going to happen but just let the ACC absorb Maryland and Rutgers and let's just move on with 4 16 team super conferences. B10 footprint still makes no sense but whatever. ACC would be poors too but I'm OK with that :)

Half the league as in Tenn, Ala, Miss., and soon Tex. has a second team in state.

I think you missed the point. Alabama and Mississippi already have 2 schools in the SEC - as will Texas. Tennessee doesn’t have a meaningful in-state rival to be concerned with. Surely you can’t be talking about Memphis.

UF, USCe, and to a lesser extent UGa do have in-state rivals we each want to keep out of the SEC, and formed a pact to vote with each other against those rivals being invited to the SEC. As pointed out earlier, KY also has a stake in such an agreement regarding Louisville

Packs like that go out the windows when money is on the table, A&M was told to sit down and shut up when Texas came in, I'd rather see Clemson and the rest in the SEC then the Big10x2 being allowed into the south.

Easy to say but do you know how the decisions will be made? If there’s a vote including the member schools then such an agreement might come into play. If Sankey gets to make a unilateral decision then probably not

Not really, because everyone else does it, too. Apples-to-apples comparisons. Take a look at Alabama and Georgia's non-conference schedules over the last few years and beyond. Way easier than ours these days.

Education side hustle? Lol... some schools are becoming just that without sports being their primary revenue generator.

100% agree with the first part, money definitely talks.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with the second part as it relates to the SEC. First, the SEC has enough powerhouses in football that they're not in danger of being dwarfed by anyone. Bama, UGA, LSU, OU, Texas and UF have all won national titles in the last 25 years. The clout of those program won't be "dwarfed" just because the B1G has a handful more teams than the SEC.

Southern football is a huge part of the brand and appeal of the SEC, that shouldn't be discarded in an abstract arms race to keep up with the B1G. Adding schools like UVA will be like adding another Missouri IMO, a school that doesn't totally fit and now (mildly) dilutes the SEC brand and payouts. You're right, money talks, and the money says the schools in VA and NC are not worth what the average SEC is getting from the next TV deal.

Would you agree it is likely dependent on the reason that the SEC would choose to add schools? If it is to ensure that the Big 10 cannot extend its footprint south of Maryland or North Carolina, does Sankey overrule UF and USC? If it is because the ACC is breaking up and some valuable schools are going to be available, then a UF, USC, and UK pact would likely have more influence to keep Clemson and FSU out?

    In my head--- UF
from a football standpoint that has zero appeal

those teams would drag down the conference

It’s all pathetic. If dipshit jumps off a bridge, I’m right behind him I guess. I could go to a play I guess.
