You missed the Bucs being the first team ever to win a Superbowl in their own stadium! It was pretty amazing.
Humble kid who worked his ass off and elevated himself, never scared of the competition. I have always and will always be rooting for Trask.
I love Kyle Trask and want him to win the job. Having said that, Mayfield go hosed by the Browns after he played hurt during the 2021 season. He probably should have pulled out and had surgery on his shoulder during the season.
As much as I'd like to see Trask get his shot, it's doubtful they brought in Mayfield for 8.5 million to sit. I think if Trask gets a shot to start it's only because Mayfield really stinks it up the first half of the season.
He has a 1 year deal for $4M with a $2.8M signing bonus. That’s pennies for a QB. No team is sweating that amount sitting on a bench. It’s probably the going rate or below for a backup QB.
Mayfield making 4 mil this year. Trask is making something like 1.5. Like it was said, that’s pennies. How do you think those numbers compare to other nfl teams?
Yeah, that's it. LOL. I just hope we suck so we can blow it up and start over. Two potential franchise QBs coming out. Bowles isn't the guy. Just start over with Maye or Williams. I guess if he shows something great, but beating out Baker Mayfield at this point I don't think is any indication of great things to come. FWIW, I like him. There's a clear ceiling there though and if Maye or Williams fall into your lap you take them.
Eh, I went to a watch party for that one. Don Shula did the coin toss, that part was great. After that I mostly camped out by the cooler. That old school Bucs spirit makes me so nostalgic. But I think Trask is going to have his day here.
Trask is a rare gem in that he waited for his time not only once, but three times. I’m a trask fan for sure.
Panthers fans? Bucs fans genius. (in before '...but are you on the team?! Har har har'.) He doesn't really have any traits the modern prototypical QB the NFL covers. Not particularly mobile mainly. Unless he has the brain of Brady or Manning he has a ceiling. It is what it is. We'll see I guess. I'd love nothing more then for him to be Brady 2.0 but I don't think anyone expects that.
Personally, I find the notion of "we" to apply more readily in the college game, where many of the fans are/were members of the institution. You may be right about physical characteristics, but Trask also possesses some of the measurables (height/arm strength) coveted by NFL coaches and GMs. Add that he's demo'd good decision-making skills and I see no reason to claim a clear ceiling exists (unless you have an agenda).
