    You’re asking the wrong question.
I want to know why you enjoy diminishing serious issues with children?
    You gotta seek help.

You still can't answer the question. It is fascinating how scared you seem of that simple question. Why do you want this particular crime to be more common than it is? You can seek help to figure out the answer, if needed.

You’ve asked him this numerous times. Can you please tell us, how common is this crime? Do you have actual numbers?

He doesn’t. He just likes looking like a fool I guess. There is a reason no other Libs have come to his defense. It’s because he’s making incredibly stupid posts.

We don't know with any certainty, but the number of adults arrested for child sex trafficking is around 1,500 a year in the US and is dwarfed by the numbers of other crimes under the sex crime umbrella (all told over 200k arrests and/or reports). Also, in most sex trafficking cases, more than one adult is arrested for the same offense.

What this means is there is likely more than 1.5k since obviously arrests comprise only a percentage of the total (but unknown number of) actual incidents. On the other hand, given that arrests for sex trafficking are far less than for other sex crimes involving children, and that missing children are far more likely to be missing due to custodial disputes or are runaways, it's much less likely that the true number of sex-trafficked children is extremely high.

Long & short of it is that the nature of the problem is extremely serious, but the frequency unlikely to be extremely high (or common). But I guess this can also depend on what people think common means in this context.

As pointed out, the arrests for it are in the low thousands. Even the high credible estimates for trafficking in general (which includes adult and non-sex trafficking, not just child sex trafficking) are in the tens of thousands. It should be noted as well that there are somewhere around 100-200 stranger abductions of kids in the US per year. All of that leads to the inevitable conclusion that the sketchy organization trying to sell you hats may not be honest about the actual numbers. And that is before you click through the link that they have provided and have it confirmed that they are using the data from their sources incorrectly (as stated by their source). They are using the total number of missing children reports (which includes children with multiple reports in a year as well as mistaken reports) and applying some multiple they invented out of thin air to come to their "estimate."

There is a common denominator and it isn't that your wife and I know each other...

Now, why do you want this crime to be more common than it appears to be?

So you knowingly chose to share stats that you knew were incorrect without saying so to the board and then told another poster that they were ignorant or obtuse because they didn't act on your "stats?" Seems like you lied there.

In terms of the prevalence of sex trafficking and how we talk about it, a podcast I listened to noted the case of Robert Craft and adult sex work. There was reporting linking his illegal massage to sex trafficking rings, but my understanding is that prosecutors only charged solicitation because the evidence didn’t show the women were trafficked in any way.

In another high profile example, we heard the terms pedo and sex trafficker thrown around about Matt Gaetz, who was never charged with anything. It’s possible he paid a 17 or 18 year old for sex but that wasn’t proven, and I doubt most people would consider that trafficking even if it happened, much less pedophilia.

We also see lot of guys get caught in private stings or police stings talking to adult decoys they think are minors. Thats definitely criminal and those guys should be prosecuted but those types of cases don’t involve an actual child victim and I’m not sure if any stats we have are broken down to reflect that distinction.

Im sure the stats are complicated. Obviously, there’s a desire to safeguard details where there are real victims. I’m not sure the extent to which that makes analyzing all of this even much more difficult. I have no doubt that many, many cases of sexual abuse against both kids and adults are never reported at all, whereas I think crimes like kidnapping and murder are going to have high rates of reporting. So sex abuse is vey, very common but probably more likely by friends or family members than gangs snatching up kids at parks.

    Top of the ridge
It seems to me both sides like using arrest statistics on certain topics when it suits their desired outcomes and will ignore or excuse away arrest stats for other topics when it doesn’t fit the narrative.
How many sex traffickers are not arrested? How many “hands” does one child go through verses how many are arrested for that child.
How many are moved out of the states?
Child crimes are absolutely abhorrent. 1 is too many, why are we making excuses for it and down playing it? There has long been an underground child sex abuse issue in Hollywood. Look at all the Disney kids that have mentioned it
Hannah Montana, Victoria Justice, cast of Sam and Cat….many more going back…and nothing ever comes of it. Why? Not enough evidence. No witnesses. Kids parents won’t press charges and lose the gravy train.
Thinking that child sex trafficking is taking place amongst the rich and powerful
Is not a leap of incredulity.

That’s not how it’s happening. It’s foreign kids being trafficked into the U.S. by criminal organizations. Who here asserted we have a big problem with gangs snatching kids at our parks? The kids being trafficked are smuggled into the U.S. Their families in Honduras reporting them missing isn’t going to help much, because they’re not American children and our law enforcement has difficulty in tracking children who they aren’t aware are even here in the States. If you’d watch the movie, you’d understand this. That’s how Tim Ballard made his career at DHS. The raid in Colombia was filmed by DHS.

It boggles the mind so many people here are creating straw man arguments for a problem they clearly have very little understanding of. That’s why I sarcastically asked is DHS real? Is the CIA real? Tim Ballard worked for both agencies for many years.

I said before that I plan to see the movie.

I have read people and articles warning that all kids are vulnerable to sex trafficking and that it is happening everywhere and all the time. My point is that I think American kids at least are far more at risk of being sexually abused by mom’s boyfriend or an uncle than they are being kidnapped and forced into prostitution, though that also happens, especially with runaways, migrants, and other kids who have risk factors.

Who here argued otherwise and what does the above have to do with the movie? It feels a lot like you’re creating a straw man to discredit a movie you haven’t seen. But the movie, nor anyone here ever asserted your straw man.
