Why 'Sound of Freedom,' Jim Caviezel's controversial child sex trafficking film, is a hit

Neither weird nor sick. Everyone recognizes that there are children abducted and trafficked. It's horrible. But wanting to be accurate about the scale of the problem is what we should all want because that is how we ground our thinking in reality. Just as all of us should want accurate information from media that isn't canned product designed to stir emotions and/or get one to think in this or that way because some political or corporate entity might benefit.

 

I'm a lapsed catholic to this day due to the pedophiles being trafficked to the children instead of the other way around. The way they just moved serial abusers from parish to parish to do more harm to other children made me furious.
I'm agnostic now as I have no clue who's God is the real and only true God. Christians, Muslims, Hindus, etc.

 

The line from the movie is "God's children are not for sale." I'll add "God's children are not a statistic." We don't ignore something so heinous, just because we think the estimates might be erring to the high side.

 

Don't disagree. Same time, trying to get a handle on valid statistics is not ignoring the problem, and it certainly isn't *sick* (as one person put it) to want to have an accurate understanding of the problem. Stats help with that. No?

To be fair, Marta appears to be just one of many people who crowdfunded the film

 

The reason right wing media tied itself to this movie was an attempt to connect child trafficking, grooming, and Pedo’s to the left, as they have been trying to with LGBT support.

This bit of tragic irony is a reminder that it isn’t partisan.

 

Are you thinking that finding 59 victims somehow provides evidence for your initial claim that it happens to 109,000 children a year? I mean, why would that even be newsworthy if that estimate was correct? You would be talking about 300 new victims per day or about 5x that amount. Every day.
