I sure am thankful someone gets me. I appreciate your comments and clarifying my interests. I try hard to help the baseball threads as much as I can throughout the year and inspire others to continue to do the same. Softball is not my thing and I really don't know anything about the program. I guess it will be better if I keep my attention to the baseball threads and leave the diehards over here alone.
1990 the special fund we talked about last night is being put in place soon. I was in on the conversation today. I will keep people on this board updated as we progress. Just think as we discussed, if we can get 1,000 people to donate just $100 each (less than 1 month at Starbuck's) we will have $100,000. We then do not lose Vawter and Maxwell. As Scrappy said you can designate where your money goes with FV.
I am more than willing to donate to Gator softball for they have given me many hours of viewing enjoyment. However, I'm somewhat reluctant to donate until TW is more informative to the fan base. We hear information about the other Gator sports teams all the time but practically nothing about softball.
Will the funds donated specifically for softball still be subject to equal distribution? If so, it will still be difficult to acquire a Maxwell or Vawter.
Don't know if you guys remember Rainey Gaffin at Tennesee but she might could play a role similar to her with eating some innings.
Not sure about Brown but Rothrock and Williams committed her before NIL was even a thing. Listening to all these recruits they're coming here because they WANT to play for UF which I love.
Delbrey was really good as a freshman and has potential to be great. Something happened to her confidence this year - not sure if it was the off season surgery, something with the rehab, etc. Whatever it was, Coach Walton lost confidence in her and she needed to go elsewhere for her own happiness and growth.
CTW should put in a call to Rylee Trlicek, she has a year left and mayhaps he could talk her into returning to the Gators.
I really wanted them to succeed but jsut watching Lexie and Olivia their attitudes and facial expression did not look pleasant in the dugout.
I'm in for $100 when they get whatever fund they are creating to establish money to use to compete for transfer. Just waiting for the word.
It was a mess. Olivia is never going to be an SEC player. Lexie delayed her surgery and that did not help. But, as @sandman70 says, she also got Bosched.
Perhaps it is just the way I viewed things but it seemed to me that Walton became openly dismissive, if not even aggravated, with Lexie and I have never seen him act that way with any player before. I might be seeing things that weren't there but late in the year I sensed something bordering on disgust or something like that. I find it hard to believe Walton would act that way toward any player, even one that was struggling, if he felt that player was giving it all she had. Others here have said the relationship completely deteriorated, which would go hand-in-hand with my impression, and it was something I've never felt was happening before Lexie.
I also heard that Olivia didn’t always do what was asked of her. She was supposed to be warming up during a game. She went to the bullpen and did nothing. Her end of season interview did not go well.
I’ve also heard other grumbling amongst the players. Supposedly, Walton kind of gave up during the season. The reason why Egan was not in the lineup against Stanford was because she was so distraught over the posts regarding her stepping out of the box but was not called for it. Her hit won the game, but ton of backlash. So, Longley ended up starting in RF.
Well, I don't know about that. But, I've never seen a player before, to my recall, that wasn't a slapper that consistently stepped out of the box unless it was a dire inside pitch. That's on her.
From all accounts, halfway through the season, he checked out. This is from multiple players. After losing the series at SC, and especially after the Tennessee sweep, (30 f'ing runs on camera) this was a breaking point. I will tell you this, CTW is now on fire! After losing Vawter and Maxwell he is on a fund-raising tear to right this ship. I agree this should have been done a few years ago, but look out, we are going to be happy down the road. Whatever you can give on a one-time or recurrent basis, please give to the softball program. With this class and the next, and his rededication, and our help, the Gators will be back.
