The charges are legitimate regardless of the 24 election, and Biden would never put himself in a position to get charged as such.

That is true. They are going through all this trouble because it's very likely that it can be proven in a court of law that Trump committed serious crimes and should be held accountable.

 

I don't think a president can pardon himself. That's why they have an impeachment process. Don't you think Tricky Dick would have pardoned himself if he could?

It's doubtful that Trump can win after the insurrection attempt and all of the evidence of his crimes. Even Fox News has somewhat turned against him. Trump won in 2016 by a fairly small margin over a candidate that America had a hard time trusting. Some republicans will not vote for someone that is likely to be convicted of a crime, and others will not vote for someone with the morals of an alley cat (suspected of rape, grab women by the p*ssy, etc.). Maybe 20-30% of the population might vote for Trump no matter what. That's not enough to get him anything but annihilated at the polls. Could be defeated even worse than Mondale in 1984. I'm not sure that Trump wants to be tagged as an epic loser on that scale.

 

I accepted that Hillary lost and will do so if Biden loses. Not that difficult.
