Partisan BS aside, why shouldn't SpaceCom be located in either Huntsville or near Canaveral? It probably has a better alignment with NASA than with NORAD.
I can see both sides. I agree Space Command being in Huntsville/Canaveral/Houston makes sense given the existing talent pool and infrastructure already in place in those locations. However, as I understand it, Space Command is less about research and more about military objectives - granted there is a lot of overlap there. Summer before last, we were in C-Springs for our son to meet with AFA coaches and got an offer to play football there - so I might have some bias ; ) (And, no he didn't accept the offer.) What they did show us - mostly plans - looked pretty impressive. Then again, they could probably do the same at the other locations. Either way it's going to be expensive and, like many, I also question the need for the project at all.

Space Command has a complicated history and an evolving mission, but it's been around in some form or other for over 40 years. All, or most of it, in Colorado. Absent a compelling reason for a move that would inevitably cause disruptions, I see no reason for SC to leave Colo.
