Also, many of the social distancing and stay at home decisions were being made individuals and families. I personally continued to go into the office the whole time, but there were only a handful of us in a big building since most people preferred to work from home for different reasons (some not Covid related). Even with the federal guidelines, there was often discretion for states or local governments, and even a lot of those rules weren't really being enforced.

Here, DeSantis bluffed with the Highway Patrol show of force. I didn't like that stunt but don't think they actually blocked anyone from coming into the state. My City passed a mask ordinance but I never heard about a single arrest despite the fact that a lot of people just ignored it. Florida DBPR threatened bars and restaurants and fined some, but I think those were later forgiven? Even earlier on, I kept hearing from a younger co-worker that the bars were packed late at night.

Thank you for raising this very real concern. For your own safety, I suggest you shut off your internet permanently. It’s a government mind control machine.

The people arguing for using emergency powers for climate change basically want to spend money/redirect resources to clean energy, etc, I'm really not sure how shutting down the economy enables that goal. Economic activity is how that revenue is generated.

In California churches that remained open were fined obscene amounts. In Alberta a pastor may be sentenced to ten years in prison due in large part to keeping his church open.

    Smdh...

This country once had skepticism of concentrated power and disdain for tyranny ingrained in our DNA...

Today's neo-prog can't surrender their own freedom fast enough to our government overlords, provided it ain't orange man meantweets in the WH...

^ The early colonists were likely infinitely more free than Americans of today. But at least we’re free of England!

This nation is on the precipice. We need Trump to win and impose martial law to save us from government tyranny. Why can’t you sheeple understand this!!!???

LOL, Trump wouldn’t have locked down had he not been muscled under. Placing the private sector under soft house arrest was anathema to him. Not because he’d have seen it as tyranny, but because it would gut the eceonomy.

Of course, politics is largely about power and who gets to decide what. I get it. But this reminds me that sometimes I hear people make the very broad accusation that the government or the elite just want to control people. It's often cast as power for the sake of power with no stated goal or benefits. That's a perplexing concept to me. I may believe, for example, that social conservatives want to control aspects of peoples' lives in a way I disagree with, but I don't assume they just want to do it just for the sake of doing it or to screw with people because they're sadists. But yeah, I'm not sure how many people benefited from lockdowns.

I like the idea that people think we aren't already being controlled, as if we are 'voluntarily' showing up to work every day for fun instead of generating money out of necessity to pay your debts and bills to buy things to survive and that there isn't a vast network of law and state monopolized violence that keeps you in line should you decide maybe that's a bad situation.

It’s not as clear as an entity “up there, out there” imposing control over us for s**** and giggles.

Take ‘Covid.’ Boots on necks arose from Savior Complex, fear of blood on hands, monkey see/monkey do, opportunism on the part of Pharma shills and modelers, the coveted Cat 6 hurricane for backlit media, fear on the part of the public clamoring for restrictions and/or go along to get along so as not to make waves and besides, resistance takes too much energy, etc.

Speaking of missed skepticism. You vehemently support a clown that actually wanted the military to seize voting machines.

Are there people who want it for generalized climate change or is it more about specific natural events?

    In my head--- UF
That’s absurd nonsense. It will never happen.

Nutjubs linking covid lockdowns in other countries as a hypothetical basis for climate lockdowns in the future

never mind that not have happened or have even been discussed
