Softball Transfer Portal

Rumor has it on OU boards that they are not done with the portal and a poster said this which to me sounds like OU could be losing someone else if oy vey actually means anything.

"OY VEY IS ALL I'LL SAY, THIS WILL SOON SHAKE YOUR WINDOWS AND RATTLE YOUR WALLS."

 

Wouldn't this have to be someone going into a graduate year since the portal is closed? I only see two possibilities off their 2023 roster.....Rylie Boone or Kinzie Hansen. Alynah Torres would also be a grad but she already used up one free transfer going there from ASU. Or doesn't using up a previous transfer not count in a grad situation? Or perhaps we're misinterpreting and it means gaining someone.

 

If it's Kinzie Hansen it'll definitely shake windows and rattle walls. I swear this is the most interesting off season!

 

Or Gasso is retiring. After they won it again, about all she could talk about was how difficult everything is with the expectations and all. She didn't look like someone that was enjoying herself any longer. The more I think about it, if something truly earthshaking is coming down, I'll bet this is it.

 

Rumors going around gasso is hanging it up.... only big transfer I could see leaving them would be May.

 

May can't now. Portal is closed and she will be a senior, not a grad, unless she can graduate early and I don't know how that works. The day after the WCWS I posted here that my gut said Gasso was debating retiring because she was exhausted and wasn't sure it was worth it. More than one here said I was nuts. While I can't disagree with that general assessment, not so in this case. The one somewhat surprising aspect is they are opening a brand new stadium next year that she essentially built. You would think that might keep her for another year but the other side of that is she can retire and come back as a hero to all of the adulation with none of the pressure.

 

I wonder if we can get out of Dobbins contract. Time for Jennifer to come back to UF. Remember the old truth..."Don't be the one to replace a legend, be the one that replaces the one that replaced the legend." (I'm kidding...I guess.)

 

My guess is that IF Gasso retires, Rocha would replace her - and deservedly so.

 

Oh, I fully expect that. I said I was kidding. She is the Associate Head Coach. Will be tough on Jennifer though. There is no "up"....just "down" and headed for the SEC.

 

And Jen gets to face unrealistic expectations all the while having the reality of joining the SEC. Yuck.

 

And we're 30 minutes away from finding out if Vawter is announcing or if the podcast is something else. Either way, I think (hope) we get her. She and Jocey appear to have quite a relationship.

 

I hear Kelly Maxwell is joining her on the Podcast!!!!

 

Where is there a link to it? I'm lost.

 

I was kidding about Maxwell joining her, of course. All I've seen was a teaser on Vawter's Instagram account yesterday that said to tune in at 5 pm today for her newest podcast in her Living the Dream series. The link I had was put in my 1079. I have no idea how to find that podcast itself and I don't even know what time zone the 5 pm is referencing.

 

I can find a Living the Dream podcast but it is from 2022. Not sure there is one with what we are waiting to hear.
