I think Chicago said it best about all of us at this point: "Does anybody really know what time it is?"
Other than agreeing Ava did not play this summer, I'm going to leave that alone since I don't know for sure why. It is entirely possible she decided the best course, after throwing a ton of ball in winning the state championship, was to rest before hitting college. It has been done before. I believe Reagan Walsh did the same thing and she wasn't pitching. And I disagree about Keagan. She looked fine in her state championship game, she was unhittable in the one travel game I saw her pitch, and I thought she pitched well in the All-American game. She gave up an infield dribbler and a ground ball the center fielder allowed to roll to the fence. She walked two but I thought her location was excellent and she was either just missing the plate by a fraction or she wasn't getting the calls on a tight strike zone. She was making good pitches. Now, for other matters, the Batbusters rolled to the Alliance championship. In the semifinal game, they won 1-0 because Sophia Bordi threw a complete game no-hitter while walking two and striking out eight. We want her. Class '25. She has camped with us. Everyone else wants her too. Batbusters cruised in the championship game 9-0. Taylor went 2-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
And in other news: Barstool Sports' Jack McGuire is hearing a rumor that the Big Ten is adding four schools this week: Clemson, Florida State, Oregon and Washington. While Clemson and FSU are publicly very unhappy with ACC revenue sharing, I don't know how they would pull this off. They somehow need to get out of a media package that has them locked into the ACC for a long time. However, if that happens, from a softball standpoint, go for it. FSU joining the Big Ten for softball will hurt their program. I'm sure softball interests won't like the move any more than UCLA softball interests also don't like the move. I definitely could see Oregon and Washington doing it. The PAC 12 is on the verge of complete collapse.
All I know about Ava is on July 13 she wasn't playing because she was in LA accepting her national awards. Doesn't look hurt to me but can't tell a lot from a picture.
I'm hoping ava decided to just rest but listening to some podcasts where she talked about playing travel this summer it seemed it was every bit her intent to play. Sound like if she is injured it happened just recently.
I think her high school season stretched into June, and then she hit the awards circuit. I would think a break from travel ball would be a very good thing
Speculation ranging from another big time player leaving to Gasso herself hanging it up. Who knows, maybe ends up nothing.
Let's see....Ava might be hurt, Keagon has lost her stuff, big things about to happen at Oklahoma. All this speculation is very interesting to talk about. However, the only thing that we as fans know is we currently have two pitchers on staff and the clock is ticking. Hopefully that is going to change real soon.
I don’t think KR has lost anything. She had surgery and she’s working back to her former capacity. That being said, it’s a big step to D1 competition and that is why so many feel it’s necessary (incl. myself) to have at least one veteran on staff.
Ava's mom is super hot but would not say it to her as her husband is super giant and would pound me unmercifully!
