I don’t agree with Trump on this, but what exactly is fascist in his statement?

Yes. The f word gets dropped a lot around here and seems like the definition drifts to whatever someone wants it to mean.

So, I would like to know what exactly is fascist in Trump’s speech.

The Republican Party of today has devolved from a traditional American political party into a cult of personality centered around the worship of a charismatic narcissistic charlatan and con artist. Although I cannot understand how he has managed to do it he has convinced his followers that any criticism of him is an attack on them including holding him accountable for criminal acts that land almost every other American in a secured government facility. Sadly while I think that most Republican politicians know better they're so afraid of alienating members of the cult that they willing kowtow to the Dear Leader. I also think that if Trump is somehow elected and while I do not think it will happen it's not beyond the realm of possibility (I was wrong in 2016 and could be wrong again) his election will mark the demise of the US as a constitutional republic. Trump will weaponize the federal government in the manner that he has (falsely) accused Biden of doing and given a second chance will be sure to nominate sycophants to every responsible position in the government. There will not be any John Kellys, Christopher Wrays, Mark Milleys or even Bill Barrs in a second Trump Administration.

It’s not hard to understand They agree with him. They prefer his values bro democracy and they don’t care about his theft of US defense secrets or his obstruction of Justice. They wanted tue post election crimes and January 6 to succeed. This is clear: they have other choices but still choose Trump.Trump's unprecedented campaign pitch: Elect me to be your revenge on the government

Really no one listens to him except the far right. It’s similar to the far left. Best to ignore those people like they don’t exist.

This is a real book by an actual scholar and it compares the former president to other strongmen.

Trump’s Moves Are Right Out of the Authoritarian Playbook | Ruth Ben-Ghiat

Edit: Another scholar more accurately described Trump as a wannabe authoritarian (my words). As I stated in Post #44, if he should be elected again he will not be restrained by nominees that ended up putting the rule of law above loyalty to Trump as he was during his first term.

Um, he has the nomination locked up. No pun intended. Is the whole party far right?

Does he? I remember Hilary had the nomination locked up before this guy named Obama "somehow" won. Lot's of time before then.
