I am all for a sensible approach of combining current tech, ESPECIALLY NUCLEAR, with existing hydrocarbon technology, solar and wind.

But there is NOTHING sensible about power generating infrastructure in the USA.
It's every man for himself, screw new ideas and protect what's in place now. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are completely bought off.

It's useless anyway, if the entire US energy grid went clean that still leaves the rest of the world.

Just hope that we adapt because nature does not care about financial portfolios.

I have hope that fusion may come through. Even if it did, the current owners of infrastructure would fight it tooth and nail.

Amazing that your fellow citizens don't dutifully lay down to be trampled on by tyrannical government aparatii, deployed to deprive us of our freedom???

    You should hear yourself.

Or rather, younger you--who was taught to question authority, be sceptical of tyrannical ploys of any sort, and to appreciate freedom, including its costs--before you were polluted by group think, to robotically obey your government's overlordship, and swaller hook line and sinker anything they sell, as long as they couch it in *science* (because science is above reproach you know...absolutely can not....NOT I TELL YOU...be bought, manipulated, or even swayed to say what you want it to say...).

...perhaps you can access the vestige of your freedom loving past self, rather than lecturing him (young you) to get off your lawn.

    I have kids too.

I want them to fry, by the greedy hand industrial capitalism, communism, Islamofascism, and whatever other corrupt power system that facilitates the emission of all the soot and smoke and carbon we can possibly pump into the atmosphere, in holy conjunction--a complete global effort, mind you--with the Chicoms, India, Pakistan, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, the UK.... Together, in Holy global communion!!! This should be lauded by y'all globalists too, oughtn't it???

Instead, you lament OUR humble contribution, seek for us to constrict our nuts, in order to clear the path for--well, to us conservatives, they would be our competitors, but y'all globalists, I suppose y'all would view them as our fellow collaborators in global suicide--to have all the fun in killing our shared planet--that is, if you actually believed the bullshit you dutifully pedal.

(...and I suppose that you believe that I want my kids, to fry...).

PS: Greenland is not 'melting'; Greece is not on fire; Gallileo was subjected to inquisition because HE took his science into the real of theology, NOT because the Church took theology into the realm of science; the researchers you agree with, are the ones approved (i.e.--bought and paid for by your overlords) to generate their spin in the name of science; and the Navy's screwed-up-edness, is due to abandonment of conservatism (and evident adoption of woke progressiveism), not to its alleged conservatism....

PPS: It's July...it's always hot in July...

PPPS: Stay tuned....it WILL get cold again, in January....

World population growth is substantially slowing. Most East Asian and Western countries are about to experience declines in population. We are down to 0.9% growth, from 1.4% growth in 2000. That is over a 35% decline.

At this point, you are arguing against actually observable facts. Greenland is melting at a rate of 271 billion metric tons per year since 2002.

Atlantic Ocean current could collapse soon. How you may endure dramatic weather changes.

Above is the actual title of the article linked in the OP: This headline means nothing. All of the similar headlines below are essentially meaningless. "COULD" "SOON" "ENDURE" are all vague words used to convey calamity; but, they are so unspecific that no one can say "Hey, this doofus was wrong." Why? Because "could" also means "could not" and what is "soon"? "Insincerity is the enemy of clear language" - George Orwell. I'll take "insincere for 200, Alex"

    Picture these similar headlines:
Your marriage could collapse soon. How you may endure dramatic relational changes. (50/50 shot here)
Your boss could collapse soon. How you may endure dramatic changes at work.
Florida Gators could collapse soon. How you may endure dramatic changes as a fan.

Well if you had taken 2 more seconds, you would find that report links to a research paper that is saying based on their best estimate it will occur around 2050. But that would actually mean you wanted to learn something.

    Their best estimate is 2050?
    What’s their worst estimate?

I know enough to know I would have to invest hours and confer with folks more knowledgeable than I to determine if the research paper held any water. Great, the guy links to a research paper. So what? Joe McCarthy had a list of known communist sympathizers. We know he was full of it. What do we know about the researchers and/or the paper itself?

To your shot - I want to learn something- just not going to hours and hours to find out if THIS particular research paper has any value.

There were massive famines in the 1970s. Probably most famously, the famine in Ethiopia as well as a less famous but hugely devastating one in Bangladesh. Both before 1975, in fact. That also has literally nothing to do with climactic predictions, as he was a biologist making predictions due to overpopulation.

I really don’t think anybody expected Communist China to embrace capitalism and become an economic juggernaut that brought hundreds of millions of people, maybe a billion, out of extreme poverty.

Apparently you have never read a newspaper or pretty much any media source and have just now discovered that article titles tend to be exaggerated in order to attract attention. Now you know and discovered that’s been going on for at least 50 years. This must be very disconcerting for you.

Such a great story!! After they shot thousands of protesters in Tiananmen Square, they phased out freedom full stop and forced people into slave labor with a quasi capitalist setup and the country profited. They are the model.

apparently you don’t understand the difference between democracy, a political system, and capitalism, an economic system. But as usual, I’m not surprised.
