In my view, Democrats are the public face of it, but Republicans are all on the side of Law Enforcement so long as they seem to be on their side. For example, the Republican/Conservative biggest villain is currently the DoJ and FBI. Reason being… they are investigating and charging Trump and some Republicans for actual crimes. During the 1/6 riot, all that Blue Lives Matter went out the window. I’m not saying this to be a whataboutist. I’m saying it to specifically address your assertion that liberals and Democrats are the “police haters”.
Hmmmm. The police I’m referring to are at the local level. Those who are doing the heavy lifting. I’m sure you knew the thread wasn’t about the fbi.
The truth is that police officers are making a positive impact every single day, but these stories almost never make it to their social media outlets or the mainstream media. The public hears when a police officer does something wrong or criminal, as they should. But they almost never hear about a police officer arresting a serial killer, rapist, or fraudster running a corrupt enterprise.
I see law enforcement as city, county, state, and federal. I don’t think it is ok to parse out one entity only. Either you are for law and order or against it. That said, there are plenty of examples of conservatives not loving the police when they are perceived as targeting them. My point is that this is not specific to one party.
I don’t see any excusing. That’s all in your head to make you feel justified in doing what you do…excoriate the police. Some deserve it, most do not.
The public also rarely sees photos of police officers helping elderly residents clear snow off the sidewalk, dropping off food to people in need, or other critical examples of police officers assisting community members in their day-to-day lives. And all of this adds up because when the public can’t see the positive impact of the police, they can become that much easier to criticize.
The only reason we see videos of cops doing things bad is because other people film them, and we forced them to wear body cameras (when they can bother to have them working) - things they are very much against
These people: Also those people: "Just do what they tell you to do. Don't be difficult. What does it matter if you have the right to remain silent? Just talk to them. Just give them your ID, it doesn't matter if your suspected of a crime. I don't care that he was on the steps of city hall with a sign, the cop told you to put the sign away and leave. Just comply and do what they say."
Wut A salute? guess that’s a Trumpaloon thing. We also saw it a political rallies in the 30’s and 40’s But good idea with the doughnuts make ‘em even fatter and slower. Smart!
There does seem to be an inconsistency in the methodology of group analysis. If we were discussing a racial group, such as people of color, an equally long list of misdeeds could be produced there, and the same exact tactics and methods of group analysis could be applied. The group could be defined by the long list of misdeeds committed by the individuals in the group. That, however, is considered racist. You are not allowed to do that to favored groups. It is all fair game if you don't like the group, though. Police: bad. White people: bad. Christians: bad. Trump voters: bad.
Part of the problem though is that the administration, laws and dept policies do not get enough of the scrutiny when an officer is exposed for corruption, incompetence or just bad practice supported by the aforementioned.
