Personally, I respect and appreciate the police for the work they do in such a difficult position. While some enjoy pointing out the bad ones, it’s important to me to show how much they are needed and highlight the vast majority are good ones.
Libbies have no clue the damage they do. Like teachers, these people are more like saints than sinners.

This negative rhetoric has grown so loud it can be difficult for police to share success stories, as they are oftentimes unjustly criticized by anti-policing groups in board meetings and other key community gatherings.

    Absolutely.

People are quick to pick apart every sideways step by individual police, and cast shade upon all police everywhere, while taking for granted the peace afforded by police in general, that makes those sideways steps, stick out like sore thumbs.

Crime is a tragic deviation of the general rule of civilisation that directly effects a small minority of people, because of the police.

Crime would directly effect everybody everywhere all the time, sans police.

Hence a point taken for granted due to the very blanket of safety they provide.

    C'est la vie.

It seems to be our nature to point out the bad in others …. and not so much in ourselves and many times, those close to us.
I agree with you post re the many good LEOs who are performing excellently in their work.

Every profession has it “bad” element -LEOs, teachers, lawyers-judges, politicians, journalists, R/E developers, health care, bankers, etc. What would be interesting is ….. which has the largest % of miscreants.

How many free beatings and killings are police allowed before we can criticize the specific incidents? Is it like an informal round of golf where you just take a mulligan when you violate someone’s civil rights and we all pretend it didn’t happen? Maybe if you only get caught once kicking a dude under an underpass we should let it slide? Let me know.

    You must have a malfunction.
Who is stopping you from pointing out the bad stuff? No one, there is an entire thread on it where the lashings against the police continue daily.
You seem to be lost. Please see yourself to the appropriate thread.

Well we found some people that are even bigger babies than cops, police apologists.

I agree with you, but I take issue with your framing this as a liberal practice. Conservatives similarly denigrate the police when it suits them.

Yesterday, griping about how big and wasteful government is and complaining about having to pay taxes to support them. Today, praising government bureaucracy.

There are many good police, but problems in policing aren't simply about *bad apples* or even the *bad apples spoiling the bunch* though as it is in public, these discussions often only center around high profile cases.

Fact is, the problems are about the way in which policing functions in the US that creates or contributes to many of the problems vis a vis living in a free society that affords constitutional protections against abusive govt practices.

Some here want to excuse it all, deny there are problems, then cry about others pointing out the problems, as if criticizing the sharp end of the govt spear is a bad thing. So many confused people.

Enjoy your peasant mentality of "lets respect the people that rule over us and can destroy our lives if they feel like it." Can I get a shout out for the president? How about rich people? Not getting enough respect these days.

I guess that tracks with your thread title. The good guys, even when they are bad, should not be investigated and, if necessary, prosecuted.

Nobody expected you to be able to differentiate between the beneficial from the wasteful govt spending.

Yeah, people point out and criticize folks in all sorts of professions on a daily basis. It is also true that police (particularly a subset of police) have a dangerous and difficult job, but they also have a lot of power.
