You realize that your link is linking this practice to hiding assets so that people are eligible for government-funded healthcare, right? So the thing that made you upset is that people would be penalized for utilizing a tax loophole to receive benefits while alive while still avoiding taxes upon death.

Do you really need it spelled out further? You are mad that the government is making it harder to game the system to receive benefits.

And ensuring a minimal level of quality of life and dignity for your fellow Americans who weren't as fortunate as you, not that you care about that.

There is no such thing as "the welfare system." Let me know which specific program or programs have millions of people "gaming the system."

Very logical to reduce perhaps the only form of government spending that actually has a positive return on investment.

A good first step. I’ll allow for quibbling over the threshold but more taxation of large estates is much needed. As a fiscal conservative I think we need to raise taxes is multiple ways (along with targeted spending cut). As massive wealth accumulates in the hands of the .01% we probably need wealth taxes. Slick Willy raised taxes and it was a smashing success. One of our better presidents blue dress notwithstanding he felt our pain (thanks GHB) and did something about it.

NO. It will just cause people to run from the blood suckers that is govt.
It will stifle biz growth as the takers outpace the inventors and workers.

Sadly, this analogy is more prescient than you think vis a vis government taxation.

The funny thing is that morons (NOT O&B!) with not two red cents two rub together bark like seals every time a GOP’r advocate for lower taxes and loopholes for (very) rich people and like wise when anyone threatens higher taxes. It’s pathetic but so is the GOP.

Yes, that is why countries who struggle to collect taxes are often recognized as the best places to form a business. For example, Guyana and Chad are well known business hubs due to their lack of ability to collect taxes (tax avoidance is about 7% of total GDP in both countries).

So apparently you believe that tax cheating is good for business and/or that larger deficits are good for the economy?

Large deficits are bad and synonymous with government. Govt is a black hole. It doesn’t matter how much they take in, they will just squander our taxes as they always do.
Deficit seems to be normal for the US. Now leave my money alone.

This is a good example of why so much of maga want to get rid of/reduce the irs. They can then more easily use illegal/ unethical methods to not pay their taxes.
