And that's why properly contextualizing it matters. You're not making the point that slavery benefitted them. You're making the point that they succeeded despite slavery.

wow. Interesting. I’ve never heard anyone refer to Ft Meyer’s as South Florida. You taught me something. I attended HS in Lauderdale. I always considered South Florida to be between Pompano and Homestead, but primarily Lauderdale and Miami.

Out of curiosity…is this a type of “non-forking family tree” thing or is it your attempt to try to insult me? Because it seems kind of foolish to try to insult a person by claiming they are not a lawyer. You got it backwards bro. The correct way to do it is to call a former underwear model, like myself, a barrister. So I will just assume the former aptly describes you and your single branch genealogy sapling.

Your grasp on the law as exhibited here is not robust. Not an insult (don’t be so thin skinned). This is the internet after all one can claim to be anything but often the posts belie the lie. However, I can totally imagine you modeling diapers.:p

your knowledge of the law is about on par with your abilities in the insulting department: non existent. For example, I know you don’t own a gun. Not simply because the thought and sound of pew pew makes your Barbie Frappuccino taste bitter, but instead because you can’t figure out how to fill out the legal forms.

I am on record saying this particular part of the curriculum shouldn’t be taught. But in the Rejected AP African American Studies course they also addressed this, but in a better way.

    EK 2.8.A.4

In addition to agricultural work, enslaved people learned specialized trades and worked as painters, carpenters, tailors, musicians, and healers in the North and South. Once free, American Americans used these skills to provide for themselves and others.

I read it, and the twisted interpretation of it lies with those who defended it. This was like saying that the prisoners at Auschwitz learned valuable skills. Prisoners in Auschwitz were going to be dead. So we’re the slaves. The slaves were never taught to read and write. They lived to an average age of about 20. Their families were torn apart. Their wives and daughters were raped. What the hell difference does it make if they learned how to pick cotton real fast or to shoe a horse? Would you want your kids learning in history class that the Jews at Auschwitz were taught valuable skills? No, DeSantis didn’t write the curriculum, but as soon as he heard it, he should’ve pointed out that it was inappropriate and needed to be removed.

I’ve never claimed to be a lawyer but I can tell you likely aren’t. You’ve had you ass handed to you on several occasions by others in that regard. I don’t own a gun because I don’t live in fear or have a rice dick.

my ass handed to me? On a legal matter? LOL. Help a brother out here. Fill in the blank…

“Yeah, there was that time on the [fill in the blank] thread that you made the legal claim [fill in the blank] , and poster [fill in the blank] proved you wrong by providing legal authority to the contrary.”

    Paging @rivergator
Why don’t you ever show up to apologize to the posters you’ve been agitating. Looks like you and your libbies friends took this to extreme to paint Ron as a racist.

OK, Bluke, it's probably pointless to ask ... but can you explain exactly what you think I should be apologizing for? You mentioned painting DeSantis as a racist, but you passed on pointing out an example of that. I don't blame you, that's a tough search.
So you want me to apologize for ... what ... agitating posters who get upset over opinions they disagree with? Is that it?

Apologize for only entering threads to correct and agitate the cons.
95 showed you a few posts up thread.
Post 529 reveals that the same points were used in the AP AA history. Seems like you don’t play fair or you enjoy pretending to be obtuse.

Diane Ravitch is an education scholar and former Deputy Secretary of Education under Bush II. She runs a blog that hosts works authored by education scholars. This author adds an additional point, which was referenced, though indirectly.

Alan Singer: DeSantis’s Effort to Whitewash Florida’s African American History

The major problems here are that Africans in Africa were agrarian people who had skills that were robbed from them when they were enslaved, and that enslaved Africans were considered property and any benefit from their skills accrued to their supposed owners. The Ocoee riots and murders occurred when African Americans attempted to vote in the Presidential election. In Rosewood, a mob of hundreds of whites murdered Black people they randomly caught and burned the town.

I have 2 family member that passed in the last 2 years, one male, one female. . Both moved from a moderate republican to a far right maga supporter in their retirement as they listened to Fox on a daily basis. It was pretty sad really.
