The chicken’n’rice was mighty good last night. Think we’re gonna take the night off and just do it over again. The grilled cheese sandwiches are good too.

I think hot as it’s been today we’ve decided on Moscow Mules tonight.

Today was just a weird day so my wife is making clam linguini for dinner. I will help with chopping flat leaf parsley, mincing garlic and grating parmigiano reggiano.

I had a great friend that at one time was a domestic pro bike racer that loved Moscow mules. He had the required copper mugs to do it right. We went on rides twice a week to keep us in decent riding shape and also shoot the shizz about bike racing in general.

Sadly he died from brain cancer.

    I really miss him.

I was in a Russian restaurant in Portland a few years ago and had my first real Moscow mule. It was really good.

And like a mule it had a big kick.

    LOL.

Sorry to hear about your friend—

We prefer the Gosling’s ginger beer, fresh sliced limes and Ketel One vodka for ourselves.

And of course we have a set of the copper mugs and love them.

I use either Gosling's or Barritt's ginger beer for Dark and Stormys. Both work well.

Tonight I’ve got a pot of beef stew on the stove that’s been smelling the house up since about 1pm. Beef stew meat, vidalia onions, Yukon gold petite potatoes, baby carrots, celery hearts, and some good gravy.

There will be fried cornbread to go with.

Tonight it’s going to be chili cheese dogs and ice cold longnecks. Usually we eat chili over rice covered with shredded sharp cheddar cheese for the first meal off of a pot of chili but tonight we decided on dogs.

    Pure T summertime here…..

Tonight I am smoking some thick bone-in pork chops, sauteeing rapini and making a side of linguini with garlic and black olives.

Tonight I’ll be grilling thick cut bone-in pork chops indirect over cherry wood smoke. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack.

Inside we’re having a fresh pot of zipper peas and a pot of white rice topped with Rotel tomatoes.

Moscow mules have been requested by Ms. Jan for the afternoon/evening.

Did a deep clean on my Bluestar range today. Even cleaned the oven glass with baking soda paste and removed the open burners to get underneath. And I love it that I can take the oven bottom outside to clean and not stink up the house with Easy-Off fumes.

Making pasta with sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, cream and shrimp with a caprese salad starter for dinner.

Also made my jerk marinade for jerk chicken. I marinade the chicken thighs for three days before grilling. Couldn't find scotch bonnets and I'm out of datil peppers so I used five habaneros for the spice in the marinade. Habs don't have that strong citrus note that datils and scotch bonnets have so I used more lime juice than I usually do.

Made chicken tagine with fennel. Added some preserved lemon that my wife made and it was a great addition.

Turned the jerk chicken in marinade twice today. I wish that I had some pimento (allspice) wood for grilling it.

Jerk chicken moved up one day. Tomorrow we are heating up grocery store BOGO pizza to eat while watching the Women's National team play futbol/soccer.

Women's and men's basketball are different games. Baseball and softball are totally different games. But men's and women's soccer are essentially the same game played the same way. The only difference is that the USA women dominate and the USA men are good but not elite.

    I’m stunned Lurk—

I don’t think that I had any idea that I would ever read the words “Tomorrow we are heating up grocery store BOGO pizza to eat”….typed by you. You just fed me the late running two seamer with nasty sink and I was looking slider away.;)

Tonight is clean the fridge out of leftovers.

Finished cutting grass today. It’s been so hot I’ve been waiting until about 4:30pm to get started and I cut the front one day and the back the next.

Sure makes an ice cold longneck go down good.

Any of you foodies like oxtails?

    Never had them.

    How would you fix them.

This is the best place to ask this question.
