Was just talking to a nephew here in Oregon. He had grown up in Florida first then later Alabama but moved to Oregon for college. He said at first years ago when he got to Oregon when asked he would say he was from Florida, but now due to the idiocy in FL he’s more comfortable saying he’s from Alabama.

You cannot begin to imagine the number of calls I answered that began something like “Hello, we just moved down here from Ohio/Indiana/Wisconsin and built a wonderful home on a canal but now there are alligators in it and we have grandkids so could you please come get the alligators?” Script was nearly the same after they saw their first bear.
That is so funny. Because they really aren't dangerous generally. Obviously a small dog could be in trouble. And my brother has talked about being in the Everglades during mating season. One other funny wildlife note. We used to make fun of tourists on the beach remarking the first time they saw a pelican as if it was something rare, when they'd see another hundred in the next hour. But we did the exact same thing in Alaska with bald eagles

Went back and found the posts about the Rays. It's just been a brutal month. Worst team in the AL for the month of July. Why do the Rays suffer so many injuries? Sounds like Eflin went down today, Diaz yesterday. Before July I was hoping the Rays would add a decent starter and a decent reliever before the trade deadline. Now I'm not so sure. Why throw away the future to try to salvage an injury-ruined season?
