Sad... and if it goes wrong we need to fire those at UF in charge of this...

Here is something to note about this. On that Gator-hater site known as The SECRant... all of those haters are hoping we cut SEATING down... the more the better in those haters' opinions...

They KNOW THE ADVANTAGE WE HAVE, with the amount of screaming fans we have in the stadium, on game day.

Don’t think it’s just losing that did it. Even in the Meyer era, demand was less than it was in the 90’s and there were more empty seats during lesser games. Obviously we played a lot of big games, so that papers over it. You would see the declines more in the cupcake games or how quickly empty seats would show when we were out of the title hunt. That started getting noticable to me even during Meyers non-championship years.

Same can be said for hoops, the fan interest and energy imo peaked a few years before the back-to-back championships and then really started declining even while Donovan was still here. I know for a fact he was pissed when the ‘Cuse fans outnumbered Gator fans like 4:1… in Tampa. He might have explored NBA opportunities anyway, but declining fan interest and the dirty direction of recruiting obviously didn’t help.

Our football still has pretty strong support, basketball sometimes seems embarrassing. But the reality is these are mostly national trends. TV money is far more important than it used to be. You still want butts in seats though as a differentiator.

Rick you and I are in the minority

We want the Gators to win. Winning is the top priority and all decisions should be made with that as the focus

If we lose one extra game because of it then it’s not worth it…even if UF makes more money due to it

And it’s a giant leap to say UF will come out ahead monetarily. It would require a huge $ increase per attendee given the drop in overall attendance

Agree 100% on all points... except that we need to cut seating... Only the fat slobs that want a quiet NFL stadium want to cut seating.

I’d be ecstatic if no power five were allowed to s hedule those games. If it were boxing it would be illegal. Making those kids take that beating is wrong too.

Telling isn’t it, that SEC refs threaten to penalize our team for crowd noise, while they turn a deaf ear to MSU ringing their “artificial noise makers” which actually aren’t allowed, and Auburn blasting piped in noise on their PA. Oh the double standard, and we’ve been on the shit end of it since we were charter members of this crooked conference. SEC! SEC! my ass. They all hate our guts

Yep, and that lasted the rest of the year until they... "thought about it" more closely.
