Why 'Sound of Freedom,' Jim Caviezel's controversial child sex trafficking film, is a hit

Exactly what I got from it too. I really felt the central struggle, which was masterfully driven home by the final shot.

 

“Mysterious ways” covers all these WTF’s.

 

Which, to my understanding, was kind of the point of the film.

 

The movie deserves to be review bombed for having such a cringe title.

"What did you do this weekend, Bob?"
"The wife and I went to watch Cuties!!"

 

Somebody has posted a thread about the movie, sound of freedom, on swamp gas. In it he tries to tie Tebow to the movie by posting a video Tebow made over a year ago on the same subject, human sex trafficking. Both Tebow and the movie misrepresent the truth. Almost no children are abducted to be sex trafficked in this country. Runaways do get trafficked. We need to do a better job giving children other options than running away. Lieing about this “crisis” is not the way to start a conversation about this.

 

Absolutely true. It's a largely contrived moral panic

Yes they want cheap labor. And that's 90% of it. But part of it is also ideological, especially given that the Lochner Era and the subsequent decisions from the high court upholding labor standards our first and foremost justified rhetorically is battling child labor. For so long they've tried to say that's not what those cases were about. But now I guess there's an easier route to avoiding the moral charge, just simply redefine the terms to make the purported immoral shortcoming in fact moral

 

Take your head out of the sand. It's more than a crisis. This is the most ridiculous post I have seen here and that is saying a lot.

The sexual abuse of children is a serious and prevalent issue. Even one is too many, of course.

As I understand it, some who work in these fields are concerned that a hyper-focus or exaggeration of the number of kids being abducted by strangers and sex trafficked may cause people to lose sight of the fact that the sexual abuse of children is most likely to be committed by someone who is family or trusted by the family and is often committed right under everyone's noses.

And one psychotheory on why this plainly contrived moral panic is so appealing to so many is that people do not want to acknowledge that reality

 

If anyone cares, my post that was deleted in the Swamp Gas thread simply asked if Tebow was supporting QAnon, based on the OP implying that Tebow had created this video to speak out after the movie came out, and they were somehow related ... it turns out that was false, the Tebow video is two years old, and has nothing to do with supporting or responding to "Sound of Freedom", which I also noted in the Swamp Gas thread ...

Are you incapable of thought? The crisis is teens running away. Almost no children get abducted in this country by non relatives.

 

Only the thousands that we are letting in across the border!!!!

 

I have no knowledge of kids being abducted as they cross the border. Do tell? I will gladly read information on this subject. I am a skeptic so please be aware I will cross check your information.

 

Is this a shot at Trump? Who last I checked, took several hundred immigrant kids away from their parents, and apparently forget to keep records on how to reunite them?
