“You had to be there” to get it. Interesting. With that kind of dress up/party vibe will give it staying power. And that aspect seems a bit organic. It’s more than just the movie. More people (women) will want to get in on it.
My son’s comments: Lots of funny parts but not sure how to interpret some of the messages. A lot to unpack, which is a strange thing to say about a movie about Barbie.
Talking to our daughter. Funny story. Having a drink at MacGuffins at the theater after the movies. Tables started shaking and they thought they were in an earthquake. Bartender told them they were right next to the Imax theatre with Oppenheimer playing, and that everytime the bomb goes off in IMAX with those speakers, people next to that theatre think it's a quake
And if nothing else a clear sign that things are finally back to normal after the pandemic. It’s great to see.
So my daughter and her husband went with another couple tonight. The ladies howled with laughter and loved it. The guys were ho-hum.
Went last night to Regals Monday Mystery Movie (an upcoming early release movie for $5 you don’t know what it is before going in). Anyway the whole complex was packed between Oppenheimer, Barbie, and the mystery movie. So much pink I am guessing Barbie did the best. Mystery movie was Gran Turismo and the theater clapped when it ended including my wife. Pretty fun movie.
Saw Oppenheimer yesterday - matinee for $5. Very powerful movie. Came home and ordered the book it was based on - American Prometheus which won a Pulitzer. edit: interesting note - the hardcover version of American Prometheus was listed on Amazon for $2,799.00. I ordered the paperback.
This was my prediction on page 1 for best case scenario. Safe to say it’s well out of waterworld territory.

I remember a funny one once. Can’t remember when it was or who was president then but I remember a chuckle
