Cmon man. Are people outraged by drunk driving people who want to drive drunk? Are people outraged by the federal deficit people who cant stay out of personal debt? This is a nother bully tactic to silence dissent. Ooooo you are against something so deep sown you must be that thing. It makes zero sense.
You may disagree with the teaching, especially at that age. Many do. But whose "decent" [dissent], and how, is being bullied into silence. Many of the posts disagreed with me, and I respect their opinions, but they didnt politicize it as you and others have done. What, pray tell, does this cryptic statement mean?
Don’t want to talk for Tilly but I’m guessing this sentence from the OP Might one perhaps wonder if those adults who are outraged are uncertain of their own sexuality?
INCORRECT! when it comes to people railing against queer people, sexuality in general and sexual predation with GOP politicians and the rank and file it’s pretty much a thing.
I was a “kid let be kids” kid in the 70s. I knew I was gay at 6-7; didn’t know what I knew but I knew. I knew exactly what I was in 4th-5th grade. I would have been without a lot of self hatred; fear and lived a normal teens dating life had society treated who I was the same as everyone else had society accepted that sexuality is truly fluid. I came close to shooting up my school. Keep in mind I wore confederate regalia; drew swasticas on my book covers etc. I am so far from that young man today; he seems like a stranger. 3 year olds don’t even know what they are seeing; not worried. But your implied point that kids aren’t aware is factually wrong. Nothing hurt me more in 5th grade than to hear my father for first time use the Fa* word while passing “The Marlin Hotel” in 1977; Fort Lauderdale. It assured I never had a love life until I graduated from my masters. Created a very unhealthy social person. If you think not talking about this topic is going to save your gay kid from being gay; your a stupid person. All it will do is make them crazy; yet still gay.
{This post is not meant to step on any toes.} Actually it makes perfect sense. Research into the phenomena is illustrated by incidents like the exposure of Pastor Ted Haggard who railed against homosexual behavior from the pulpit of his Colorado Springs mega church all the while paying for and secretly enjoying the services of a Gay prostitute in Colorado Springs some years back. In 2006 the prostitute grew tired of Haggard's hypocrisy and notified the press. Haggard initially denied the charges made by the prostitute but eventually confessed and repented he claimed. There have been additional incidents since then. Richard Ryan, professor of psychology published the results of his research in 2012. Homophobes Might Be Hidden Homosexuals "Homophobes should consider a little self-reflection, suggests a new study finding those individuals who are most hostile toward gays and hold strong anti-gay views may themselves have same-sex desires, albeit undercover ones. "'This study shows that if you are feeling that kind of visceral reaction to an out-group, ask yourself, 'Why?'" co-author Richard Ryan, a professor of psychology at the University of Rochester, said in a statement. 'Those intense emotions should serve as a call to self-reflection.' "'Sometimes people are threatened by gays and lesbians because they are fearing their own impulses, in a sense they 'doth protest too much,'" Ryan told LiveScience. "'In addition, it appears that sometimes those who would oppress others have been oppressed themselves, and we can have some compassion for them too, they may be unaccepting of others because they cannot be accepting of themselves.'" Another site listing other incidents and surrounding circumstances includes a 'premise' accompanied with a sarcastic "Law" written by someone connected with Comedy Central. It and other quips have a sarcastic bent. Found at link Gay History: Haggard’s Law • Ken Adkins, a notoriously anti-homosexual pastor who made the news for attacking the victims of the Orlando shooting, was arrested in August 2016 for not merely being gay, but having molested a young boy who was a member of his church. Ironically, one of his chosen lines of attack seems to have been that all gay and trans people were paedophiles, as he was banned by court order from using the phrase “child molester” without proof after numerous attacks on a local school board member via social media. • Gary Aldridge, pastor at Thorington Road Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, was found dead of autoerotic asphyxiation while wearing two complete rubber wetsuits, including a face mask, diving gloves and slippers, rubberized underwear, and a head mask, reportedly with one dildo in the anus covered with a condom. You read that correctly. • Bob Allen, anti-gay Florida politician. • Roy Ashburn, Californian anti-gay politician caught on a DUI after picking a man up at a gay bar. _____________________________________ And who could forget Larry Craig the congressman from Idaho who was arrested and charged with soliciting, claimed he had a "wide stance" when standing at a urinal to relieve himself. Other psychologists suggest these closeted public figures who rage against Gays are using them as surrogates (whipping boys) to punish their own suppressed homosexual urges.
In general, I believe we should shield our children from propaganda and teach them age appropriate information as they mature. I don’t want the state having any sort of edict for it, to be frank. They are horrible at everything else. Why would I offer up my toddler to their indoctrination techniques? Perhaps I should just give my baby up to the government at birth and serve as the state’s proxy caretaker for the child until they’re 18?
1. How did I politicize it? 2. Cryptic? No. You are implying that people against something are closeted themselves. I am calling that nonsensical.
Out of billions of people I can find anecdotes for anything. It is a bully tactic to shut up opposition. Especially on a message board designed for such debate. None of us are screaming pastors or politicians here
LOL. The word you are trying to spell is still spelled “dissent”. Second time in this thread. Not a good look.
This you? Your lack of punctuation is not a good look: Now that I have corrected my terrible error of misspelling a word and pointed out your grave instance of ignoring periods and question marks all while having established that horrible secret that message board grammar is messy, perhaps you can respond to the point?
Yes. Your point is wrong. the majority of the time a GOP’r rails against what ever perceived perversion it may be, that person is guilty of either that thing or something worse. This is not surprising given the fact set that GOP’s 25% of voters are vile people.
Agree that it's about family structures, not sexuality. I don't think the discussion done well causes any harm at all to the kids. But it also seems like an unnecessary complication to be discussing at that age. I can picture a 3-year-old asking why another child has two mothers or two fathers. But I think it's a question a parent should answer, not a teacher or a volunteer with dolls.
Tolerance and acceptance can be taught and re-enforced without having to discuss sexuality. This massive push to discuss "sexuality" has become ridiculous. It's like our sexuality is all we are and how we view everything we do. Good grief, just live your life, work hard, be kind to people and be humble. You can do all that without sexuality being part of the equation.
