FUN FACT: LSU decided to wear white at home back in ‘58 and they ended up winning the National Championship. Since ‘95, LSU only had to wear purple on the road only four times and they went 2-2 with their two losses both against UF.
I’ve never heard it discussed in any other sport except football — which of course is your point. But FWIW, I don’t wear black shirts in the sun because they’re hot. That applies to everyone, regardless of whether or not they’re playing a sport. Depending upon the sport, that may or may not be significant. I can’t imagine running around a tennis court in the hot sun wearing black
As a fan, I love the alternate uniforms. I like how Oregon switches it up and comes out looking fresh. My opinion is that people are letting superstition get the best of them. If we lose in an alternate uniform then it had to be the uniform that messed us up and not the play on the field. As much as the old folks hate it, the players love it and they want to look fly on the field. I’m all for it.
Every time I see a team go for the black unis it comes across as a desperation move - like they’re trying to create some new motivation or jump start something missing. When’s the last time anybody saw Bama sporting black unis?
