IF we only improve to 309th we got some issues.

Great points about guarded v. unguarded shots. To be fair, we routinely passed up open looks, often enduing up with worse, guarded shots as a result (especially Reeves, Lofton, even Jones). I think that's one reason Golden emphasized usage rate in guards this offseason: guys who can create shots for themselves and others more routinely. Pullin will definitely do that. Kugel already has done it. I think Clayton is capable of it, even though he played more off the ball at Iona. It was also maybe a confidence issue last season with a few of our guys.

The other interesting note was on Samuel. I honestly hadn't noticed his perimeter shooting early in his career. But if you look at the ratio of shots (3PAr), he was at 55% as a freshman (tops on the team!) and a still respectable (for a big) 36% as a sophomore. Even that latter number is better than any big we've had in recent seasons other than maybe Felder the year before last. And hitting them at a 33% clip is actually pretty solid for a post player. He obviously has far better range than I realized and has shot the ball relatively well at this level. If he can shoot 33% on two shots a game for us, but still bang in the post regularly like he did last season, that will open up our offense and our post combinations immensely.

Looks like we have at least 4 bigs that can shoot 3s, in Samuel, Handlogten, Jarvis, and Shimmy. Not that I want them looking for 3s early in a possession, but it's nice to know it's there to stretch the defense.
Yes, Florida will be a better shooting team this season, across the board.

Handlogten was 1-12 last year from the arc, so I wouldn't put him in that category myself. But his ability as a rim runner and a passer (37 assists/42 turnovers isn't terrible for a freshman 7-footer) means he can play outside the paint on offense.

1 for 12 is pretty bad. I had heard he could shoot it but I didn't check the stats. Mea culpa.
