I once saw U2 open for J. Geils Band. U2 was booed by the crowd but kept playing the whole set. JGB owned the stage that night, but U2 obviously became the much bigger band years later. Also saw Van Halen open for Montose (Sanny Hager singing) with Journey the headliner. Van Halen had been the house band at the Whiskey A-Go Go two weeks prior.

Never a big U2 fan. One or two songs that are good but don’t see the appeal others do. Don’t like Kanye and Jay Z either. All big followings and fan base. Just don’t like their music and songs for the most part.

The greatest loss to our music world in my lifetime. Can you imagine Stevie Ray Vaughn playing his blues into his 70s - and all the decades of great music in between?

Nothing at all wrong with that at all, but I'm more of a Brothers and Sisters kind of person.

Completely agree...I paid a lot to get into the stadium to see G. Strait a couple of years ago. I was in the very 1st row of the 3rd level and he was the size of a flea onstage. You had to watch the video board to see anything. I can watch video at home in my recliner, so the next stadium concert I went to (L. Combs) I paid the freight for on field seats about 30 yds from the stage. I doubt I'll do another stadium concert unless I sit or stand up fairly close.

You'll have to let me know how that venue is. I've heard good things but haven't seen a concert there yet.

And nothing wrong with that either. But Elizabeth Reed and Whipping Post and Stormy Monday…… love Brothers and Sisters, but if I can have only one Allman Brothers album it’s Filmore hands down

My wife dragged me to see Kool and the Gang a few months ago at the Hollywood Hard Rock.

After dreading going, it turned out to be a great concert. They are good musicians and played a whole lot of funk and really engaged with the crowd. Catch them if they come around again.

But Kool before VH is a strange combo.

It was, but when they started with the Get Down on it song, then finished with Célébration, I was dancing to their tunes the whole time. I really liked the base part of their songs.

I saw Jimi Hendrix jump out of a helicopter at Gulfstream Park in 1968, grab his guitar and break into Foxy Lady. Also saw the infamous concert with The Doors in Miami.

I saw them both at Lallapalooza in 92. The only one I attended and the best of all time. It was wrapping up just as Hurricane Andrew was barreling into Miami. This was pre cell phone and being a clueless yut, I was super pissed by all the inexplicable traffic heading back to Tampa (now just an average day on I4)

I remember back in the day, wandering around campus and finding free concerts on the North Union Lawn and Lake Alice Field. Saw the Police, Peter Frampton, Devo, Molly Hatchett and more all for free. Went to dinner with some friends and Bo Diddly had set up in front of the Hippodrome and was giving a free show....good times!:)

Who else was at the UF - UGA game when the junkyard band rolled a plywood box out at halftime and James Brown jumped out of the box...lol

The wharf? Pretty good sound. The floor seats are comfortable but the rest is bleachers. It’s hot as hell in the summer but Willie will be in the fall.

My wife and I watched Garth Brooks in the Swamp a couple of years ago. Fantastic show.
