Damn hillbillies got off easy. They bought their way out by the $8M fine.

Yes they would have . Bama , Georgia, Tenn, Auburn and LSU will always be the favorite sons!
Any Gator fan that pulls for these schools vs non conference games are out of their mind .
I’m sure when the dickwads that work in the Birmingham office come in to work on a Monday in football season they chat “well our Bama boys did well! Too bad the Gators lost .. yuk yuk “

Yeah I’m sure the state of Tennessee is really taken aback by that!

I believe it was because they were threatened with a lawsuit.

That's not what I mean. We damn near got the death penalty and get raked for minor crap that should have never happened. While other schools get away with serious violations and get a slap on the wrist.

Also, I don't believe in "everyone is guilty BS" just becasue some people think it's true... Screw all that.

So you think we aren’t doing the pay to play thing that is supposedly against the rules? Believe that if you want. We almost got the death penalty almost 40 years ago and still have ptsd. Sure we are treated unfairly but that’s a whole different subject. They’ve only given slaps on the wrist for thirty years now.

    Pruitt plans to appeal

    https://www.knoxnews.com/story/spor...al-tennessee-football-show-cause/70422610007/

"Pruitt’s plan of attack involves pinning the blame on young staffers and assistant coaches, claiming he was a victim of a toxic booster culture and arguing the scales were tipped in UT’s favor because it paid for an independent investigation that unearthed most of the evidence that school leaders then turned over the NCAA. The strategy is similar to what Pruitt employed in testimony to NCAA Committee on Infractions that rendered the verdict in the case."

Tennessee should’ve paid Pruitt his buyout. Being cheap is making them look a lot worse and this will be dragged out for awhile.

Yep, Pruitt opened up a can of worms on Tennessee. And now the whole world knows how they run their football program. UcheaT... alive and un-well.

    Comment below the article...
I worked at the UT Gibbs Hall, the dorm for the athletes, back in the 70's, it was regular practice for under the table cash to the athletes...sometimes significant amounts at one time. It was well known, and understood as one of the unspoken perks of being a UT football player. The better you were, the more cash perks you got.

Not that Distant Gator would ever hold a grudge, but wasn't it the UT President who led the charge to strip our SEC title from us after we WON IT ON THE FIELD in 1984?
Yet per this commenter UT was paying big for players- while we were getting hammered for free t-shirts, etc.

I will add that I know anyone on the internet can say anything. It's not proof. But it passes the common sense test.

I'm perfectly happy to say I hold a grudge against those holier than thou hillbillies to the N. It has really made our relative domination over them in all sports save Women's Basketball over the last 30 years or so that much sweeter.

Lol... you mean The Gators enticed high schoolers to play for us by offering up scooters? Yeah, I don't think that's the way "pay-to-play" works. While FSU gave away Cadillac Escalades? Of Bama with their Doge Chargers? UGA's Ford Raptors? USC with $850K house accommodation for their running back's mommy and daddy?

Yeah, NOT everyone was guilty of pay to play. Unless dinner, chewing-gum, dinner, pocket change and a ride ranks as enticements.

When I was at UF in the early to mid 80s, the football players were set up to have meals with alumni members/boosters and often their families. At the end of the dinner, you received an envelope. No saints in college football, then or now. Perhaps more out in the open now.
