More like "because the culture has glorified and elevated a lot worse over the course of the last 30 years up until the point that this music video was released."

And that couldn't be further from a "losing point."

The worst song censorship I can think of is when Tammy Wynette couldn't even say the word "divorce" in one of her hits.

LOL ... you've already lost that point, too. You made a false statement that videos promoting rape were common, then failed to name one that got TV air time.

I could easily prove, and already given numerous examples, that the culture has 80 years of censoring music artists over dumber shit, like Elvis' wiggling hips or Tom Petty's supposed cannibalism -- mostly driven by conservative Christians -- so you fail to make a point there, too. Heck, "milk toast" songs -- as you say it -- like "wake up little susie" and "tonight's the night" were banned by some stations after complaints. There has always been censorship at the whim of whatever corporation was playing and promoting the music.

So when he says "stomp on the flag" in the first verse, it's misquoting him to say he said "stomp on the flag" because you think it's just lumped in there and unimportant, is that it?

Who is "them" and what were "they" doing river? Just burning the flag? Couldn't catch anything else to contextualize that lyric from the song and video?

doesn't matter. 92 asked me to point to Aldean talking about doing something illegal. He's saying if you do something he doesn't approve of, he's going to stop you from getting down the road. How do you figure he's going to do that legally?

I didn't say it's unimportant, but considering that it's the only action he mentioned that did not necessarily involve violent crime, rioting, or terrorizing that seems to suggest he was addressing this picture of rioting and anarchy in big cities where people did all of these things (including burn the flag) that he mentioned.

He even provided clips of it in the music video to make it easy for you, but it goes to show that you can't reason with a dishonest actor.

Legality is the standard of acceptable lyrics now?

What is that "something he doesn't approve of" river? Just burning the flag? You don't have any other context?

Right on queue my step-Dad sends me a random text about his new favorite song. Before I even opened I knew he had to be talking about this. I swear he only likes things now that irritate the left/woke.

Yep, that one right there is an all timer. They don't talk songs like that anymore.

When I was a 16yo, I got into hot water with my parents for playing the Woodstock album - the side with Country Joe and the Fish's contribution. My sister ratted me out. I feel like I'm fixing to die.

Have you read the lyrics? The line before the flag line is "Cuss out a cop, spit in his face." Now, that's a disgusting act that ought to throw the person in jail, no doubt about it, but it's also not a violent crime, rioting or terrorizing, is it?

    Oh boy...

The images in the video depict the action the song objects to, such as spitting in a police officer's face, rioting, molotov cocktails and such ( at end, some feel good small town imagery).

Y'all would have a helluva a point, if he'd included burning crosses (like in that famous Madonna viseo) and Klansmen, or such.

You have none of that here. Nothing even close.
