"Stomp on a flag, I got a gun, you won't make it out of town ..."

All that stuff is literally in the song. How is it twisting the meaning of it?

Ok, that's fine, but you seem bent on making it something bigger than that ... you used the words "cultural decay" at one point. Personally I think a better sign of 'cultural decay' is someone making that song in the first place, not a TV network pulling it based on negative feedback.

First of all, it is not "literally in the song." He never says "you won't make it out of town." Here's what he says: "Well, try that in a small town, see how far ya make it down the road."

By ignoring the rest of the examples provided and the videos which demonstrate that the "flag burning" was characterized in the context of "violent crime," "violent protesting," or "terrorizing."

Finally, he lumps in some bits of the song with verses that never happened, puts them out of order in a manner that ignores context, then characterizes it as one quote in the song and the primary takeaway of the song.

    You're right, it is.

But the perpetrator in this case isn't who you think it is. The cause of the cultural decay is the rioters, looters, and anarchists exploiting a tragedy to destroy, not the guy shining a spotlight on them.

What do you think 'see how far ya make it down the road' means in the context of the song?

No, first admit that it wasn't "literally" said in the song. I'm not letting you off the hook so you can bounce around and pussyfoot the issue.

Admit you misspoke, then we'll talk.

What are you even talking about? Talk about lying, if I use your standard, you are definitely lying. I never said any of that stuff.

So making a video about something using images meant to titillate, etc. (for money I might add) isn't also an act of exploitation? What exactly is the uplift here? As many have rightly pointed out, the message isnt exactly unifying! Its us vs. them.

This so stupid. No the exact words weren't literally in the song. But the meaning of the words was. What do you think 'see how far ya make it down the road' means?

Perhaps, if done in bad taste.

But if we're splitting hairs here, I don't think you can compare "destroying property, robbing, and assaulting" to "songwriting for profit."

How do you feel about someone promoting vigilante justice and assault with a deadly weapon ...Cuz that's how small towns do it?

So you were wrong. Thank you. Fortunately, my point regarding that lyric was that it wasn't "literally" in the song.

As far as the rest of the evidence, here you go. Do you care to respond or do you want to hone in on arguments I never made because you chose your words poorly.

A Hell of a lot better than ACTUAL ACTS of assault, armed robbery, and destroying property.

Uhhh ... so are you just going to ignore there are actual acts of vigilante justice and assault with a deadly weapon in small towns. I mean, Ahmaud Arbury has already been mentioned a couple of times in this thread, if you need a refresher ...

btw, to follow up...(since you didn't (couldn't) find where he calls for killing anyone who did something fully legal...):

Got a gun that my granddad gave me
They say one day they're gonna round up
Well, that shit might fly in the city, good luck
Try that in a small town

See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own

You cross that line, it won't take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don't
Try that in a small town
Full of good ol' boys, raised up right
If you're looking for a fight
Try that in a small town
Try that in a small town

This is a direct application of the 2nd Amendment.

    "They" presumably = the Government.

    "They're gonna round up..."

    = confiscating [our] guns;

    "...you cross THAT line";

    ("you" here = hypothetical 'you', and again, presumably a reference to the government--'crossing that line' = confiscating our guns);

    i.e.--THAT would be ILLEGAL.

    i.e.--UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Best hope everyone takes up arms against our [then] tyrannical government, if THAT ever happens.

IOW, taking action against the government at that point, would not only be legal and constitutional, but exactly the point of the 2nd Amendment, and pretty much all free citizen's everywhere's duty.
    _____________________________________________

Now, again...point to me the lyrics where it talks about actually doing something illegal. Say something more than mere innuendo/suggestion, that leaves virtually everything to the imagination.

I particularly remember some Dre and Snoop videos that were different from what was on the CD.

Cuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
    Yeah, ya think you're tough

    [Chorus]
Well, try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road

sure sounds like there are gonna be consequences for the legal acts of cussing out a cop & stomping on & burning a flag.

    WTH???

It lines up waaaaaaayyyyy better than "...see how far you get" = "we're gonna do us a public lynching".

Hell, I laid it out for you; connected the dots.

..and invited River, now twice, to do the same.

    Guanlet's thrown down ma'am.

Feel free to take it up, and spell it out with express lyrical references, to support YOUR interpretation.
