South Carolina is an up and coming program and an attractive destination for a pitcher. They basically had one pitcher last year, Donnie Gobourne, who carried the team. She was a Senior but I don't know if she has/will use a Covid year.

After Gobourne, South Carolina's pitching staff was pretty weak -- their strategy was to use a pitcher for one inning. The coach said that's less pressure -- just have to get three outs -- and the opponents don't get used to anyone.

Assuming Gobourne leaves, a good pitcher going there would know she had the spotlight and could carry the team. Assuming Gobourne does a Covid year and stays, a good pitcher going there could take South Carolina to the next level. Either way, it's an attractive destination.

The recent discussion has been fascinating. Wouldn't it be nice if she comes? turned into, maybe she is!? I think she is!! to She is for sure and maybe they both ARE!
THEY ARE! How are we going to keep everyone happy happy? Not enough innings! Yes there are! No there are not!
Maybe they aren't both coming?!? Maybe just one. Maybe none?!?

Minds are swamps for rumors becoming facts.

I don't approve of the easy transfer portal any more than I approve of NIL, but you have to admit that the off-season is now interesting.

When I read certain posts outside of here. I thought we already had her and things were just slow. since both went out of the country for most of July. hearing the recent turn of events have me nervous and stressing out and I try to be optimistic especially when it comes to florida gators. Future more, I feel like we put all of our eggs in the baskets of Vawter and Maxwell. and we didn't go after any other top pitchers from the portal. I don't have access to the portal but it's getting later which means players have already committed else where.

welp. seems she's still visiting. so unless she goes to florida and falls in love with it.. My "gut feeling" was probably just hunger pains.

The portal closed at the end of June. What we may have done or not done with some of the other potentially interesting pitchers that have now gone elsewhere I don't know. If he was holding off for Vawter, that also is an unknown. But, it clearly wasn't a case of Walton ignoring other options by placing his eggs in a basket including Maxwell because she entered the portal extremely late. I'm pretty sure Walton didn't have any advance notice of that because Kenny G was blindsided by it.

Donnie is playing for the pro league. So I think she's done playing college softball.

Speaking of Kenny G....kinda interesting that he got blindsided twice and was very open about it. He had only the tiniest of inklings that Maxwell might even consider the portal and was pretty shocked when she did. He admitted as much and asked their fans not to hold it against her, or something like that. As for his pitching coach, he said the only thing he ever asked of him was to give warning if he intended to quit or retire. Said the guy just walked in to his office and said he was done with no warning at all. I just thought they were rather surprising public comments from him.

Learning curve as a manager, we have all been there - people’s lives and needs aren’t always on a timeline, let alone yours.

Is keagan dealing with a recent injury? I know she had surgery before her senior season but I didn't know if that injury was acting up or if she was dealing with a new one.

Not that I know of. She has been playing regularly with the Lady Dukes.

Yeah but that wasn't the tone of what he was saying. He was very publicly stating he had been blindsided by people he trusted. Changes happen all the time. Not getting a heads up from people that you are invested in is a different story. Obviously, Kenny is running a successful program but adding in whatever happened in the Cotrill father/daughter fiasco just adds another element to the story, whatever that element may be.

Does anyone know if our new pitching coach Chelsea Dobbins is a good recruiter? I would have thought she would be heavily involved with potential pitching transfers?

The last time I heard, her gift basket was still on her desk. If she were here, you would think there would have been an article on floridagators.com.
I agree. Why would she not be active in getting pitchers to transfer?
This is the strangest off-season I can ever remember.
My only hope is that CTW, with his micro-management, wants to get back from Ireland and announce all of the transfers and pitching coach in a big splash.
If that is not it, then I've got nothing.

Well it's starting to sound like maxwell is going OU. Unfortunate for anyone who isn't an OU fan. Just annoying. Guarantee you there's a large NIL for her. Hope we get vawter.

It's on some of the other forums. Not a 100% thing but apparently it came from an insider who is normally right.

OU must have a lot of NIL money to get 2-3 top pitchers from the portal this season. I wonder if Kelly entered the portal before they signed the 2 transfer pitchers. If OU would've backed out of one of their offers.
