I'm all in on Napier and my posting history is a testament to that however I will temper my expectations as much as I want to buy into the hype after the abject failure that Patrick Toney was. I have no doubt we will be improved due to scheme and talent infusion but I am still left a little confused of how Napier's assessment of toney could have been so off last year.

Way to come out with a hot take there, Bobby. Lol. He had 4.5 sacks as a part time starter and mostly and SDE. This year at rush end, I hope he hits 10+ sacks. I’m going on record with 10.5. Like the Price is Right, hope I am closer than you. Lol

LMAOOOO. I want to set the bar low so I won't be disappointed if he doesn't get to 10....which he's TOTALLY capable of if he's healthy.

I let that go after he left... easier that way. And AA is just the man to make me forget that year on defense ever happened. Toney and Grantham screwed our defense to the point of having to rebuild it nearly completely.... almost.

All I ask for AA to be is aggressive. If he's an aggressive play caller on D, I can live with whatever results that comes with it. I just don't see it, talent wise, how if he's aggressive that we won't be remarkably improved defensively. I don't care what anyone says, we should more than hold our own defensively against:

    Vandy
    Kentucky
    USCe
    Missouri
    Arkansas
    Charlotte
    McNeese State

None of those teams should score more than 3 offensive touchdowns against us. THAT'S how much stock i'm putting into us being improved defensively. That probably won't hold true, this is sports after all, but you get my overall drift and point lol

In hindsight now it’s questionable how much Toney could have done with the little talent and time he had to piece together a defense.

I got my view/opinion of how AA will call plays by his pressers, but here is someone else's view of his defenses in the past. It should put a smile on your face - link at the bottom of this post.

If you want to see what an aggressive defense will look like with subpar defenders then just re-watch the 3rd quarter of our game against UGA. We forced 3 turnovers with last year's talent and bad coaching. We will be a year older and with better more aggressive schemes and play calling.

Trust me my friend when I tell you that this coming season's defense will be light-years better than last year's defense. We're now working to fill depth and not necessarily starting positions. The depth is the key to our success.

No doubt talent and depth was an issue but we had some head scratching issues with schemes that were never really accounted for. That said, I'm excited to see what Armstrong brings as well as the talent infusion this year as it HAS to be better than last year.

This this this!!! More depth should be the difference this year along with experience.

Everyone is anticipating Banks and Jackson at DT....but i'm ready to see what McClellon does. I think he was our best DL last season if i'm being honest even though his snaps were limited. He popped off my screen every game when he was able to get snaps. He's going to be a problem

This 100%. We just didn't have enough elite athletes at varying positions. After the combine 40yd times came out, I actually felt bad for Dean/Torrence. Dead last at their position group. I'm sure they were under a lot of pressure to produce but I don't think they had the physical gifts to get there.
