Now that's a post of yours that I like. Heck, even our fallen friend gatorknights probably would have approved. He was a huge Zappa fan.

I know I suck, but at least this tries to be country. I spent nearly 4 hours last night (while drinking Modelos & tequila) trying to parse "space" for the fiddle, violin & guitar - those parts were laid down independently in that the guitar was played first, but then the fiddle guy did his part with the guitar muted & the steel guy did his part with the guitar & fiddle muted. that was a huge mistake, as everyone went nuts all over the song. Making things more complicated, I had 5-12 takes of each part. It was a royal mess. the outro jam, I just said, screw it & left it as a free for all. Anyway, the alb Rig Rock Deluxe (94?) turned me on to country & esp the sub genre of truck tunes. this turned out to be a meta truck driving song. & there's a nod to an ACDC lyric. prior to the pandemic, I played this at an open mic. Turns out I sang American Thighs. I only know that cuz my friend videoed it.

I’m always amazed at how deliberately obtuse you can be. It really is a talent.

Columbia, TN is about 50 miles south of Nashville....country music Mecca, obviously. Probably just a convenient filming spot. Being that it's in the South and a county courthouse, I would imagine there were a myriad of unfortunate happenings at quite a few courthouses in small towns in Tennessee during the Jim Crow era. I could be wrong, but my instincts tell me I'm correct. Aldean didn't direct the video and probably had no clue about the history at said courthouse, but again, I feel like we're assuming these types of unfortunate incidents didn't happen at other courthouses in the South during the Jim Crow era. I'm very confident Aldean didn't handpick this courthouse himself because he's a mean ole racist. I'm not a big fan of his work, but I don't think this is some sort of dog whistle type video.

Where's the obtuseness? He asked if there was a riot there and you said there was no riot. There was indeed an infamous riot at that courthouse in 1946. You (and Rolling Stone to be fair) also made a deal about how some of the protest scenes are from Canada, as if Canadians don't listen to country music or Jason Aldean. As if Canadians don't have these same domestic issues. I would say you were being obtuse, but that would be too generous.

I know what the f'n riot was about. You said there was NO riot. First, you denied the history of the riot, now you want to post links to the riot you said didn't happen. Geeeeeeez.

I mean, if I know about a riot that occurred at a specific courthouse in 1946, dontcha think I probably know what it was about??

The whole video was one giant dog whistle and you know it.

Actually, between the lynching and the race riot makes it an even WORSE choice. If this was not a deliberate choice, then why not just say that instead of doubling down?

Within the context of the video pretty sure we’re talking about RECENT history, ala George Floyd.

I don't think the video was a dog whistle. I've listened to quite a bit of country over the years and still do from time to time. This is the same ole "don't do that shit out here in the country, because we'll sideline your ass" bit I've heard a million times before in country songs. Has nothing to do with race. As you mentioned, several of the protest scenes were from Canadian protests, which to my knowledge, have not been racially based at all. It not being a deliberate choice and looking at the entire picture aren't mutually exclusive. Perhaps it is in your binary space, but not so in reality.

I'm no connoisseur of the Meta Truck Driving song genre, but nice work for a "jam" session. Who's on the low guitar riffs and is that a hollow body? Gibson? That's a nice player there.

remember this one very well. Had the song and listened to it. I was a lot younger but nothing about it offended me. I’m all Over the place with my music. I love light jazz at dinner. Kenny chesney. Lady Gaga is one of my favorites. Crazy talented. Love 90s rap. Had naughty by nature going during training today. All That being said don’t love idea of music being pulled, but I recognize a business reason to do it.

Ah yes. I bought the CD that lacked the rocking Cop Killer. In it’s place, I got some bland rap about the first amendment.

Not an Aldean fan or this song, but also not a fan of censoring music.

In the meantime, I'm sure Aldean record sales will soar.
