Very soon that rapidly receding object should be the Gators' train viewed by 2025 grads. You'd think that by the time the July 29 BBQ is digested there would only be a spot or two left for 2024 must take for ESD dudes (possible flips).
1st kid from this class I'm not overly convinced he's all that as a WR. Speed he possesses is something you can't teach! Will be watching his senior season closely, as his QB last year ( graduated) at Dunbar barely completed 50% of his passes...., so he will have a new QB throwing to him this season at Dunbar. Number of teams last year, with better than average DB talent kept him in check from a pass catching standpoint.
Sorry, no. In addition to his offer list (coaches evaluations), all you have to do is watch a little video. You cannot teach speed and you cannot teach elusiveness; this kids got both. Great get. Go Gators.
I know Jeremiah Smith is a take at any point, no questions asked. How is the rest of the WR board looking?
Everyone is committed or leaning hard to another school. Any other WR the Gators get will likely be another flip.
This is both funny and sadly true. The journalistic integrity for some rating services is simply nonexistent.
I don’t think that is an unreasonable take, especially since you mentioned the average season his QB had. Last year he only had 429 yards receiving on 37 catches for a 11.6 yard average per catch, he actually averaged more on the ground at 11.8 yards per carry. He did average 16.6 per catch his sophomore year, and last year the majority of his catches looked to be bubble screens because of the lack of deep throws. His speed is is very apparent on film, and he appears to have very good escapability. He does not have Jeff Demps or even Chris Rainey type speed, but almost no football players do, especially in the case of Demps… but his speed is very much above average. ( Legit 10.7, all his times lower than that were wind aided, his 10.62 best was quite a bit over the allowable) I’ve seen some saying he’s our worse take (not here), but that’s ludicrous. He may or may not pan out (you can legitimately say that about almost any signee), but his speed alone makes him worth taking a chance on, add his other offers and versatility plus intangibles and he is a solid take.
With the addition of Abrams in a year or so we may very well have the fastest WR core in the country with Mizzell, Wilson, Hawkins and Abrams. All with legit track speed
Interesting, I thought someone posted something like this in the 24/7 free boards. However... when you have a 50% QB in passing it's tough to stand out as a receiver with a QB with those stats. He had a solid offer sheet, and if General Napier and his Army want him... then so do I.
If we are taking him now with the very limited spots we have than our coaches really like him. That’s good enough for me.
I barely paid attention before because it's subjective. Now apparently they may have become weaponized. Paid by certain schools? Ratings spark conversation but the dick measuring between fans is laughable. Besides, I trust our current staff more than any in my lifetime for evaluation and homework. The army is busy.
"We didn't want him anyway. We stopped recruiting him. We have better WRs on our board. We are going to flip <insert long-shot 5* WR name>."
