I am only 72 but it took me 5 months more to get out of school than Ocalaman. The bad news is we are all old guys watching nice athletic women in their teens and early 20's. As Sandman and I say, "We were born 50 years to soon!!!!
Love Buffalo Springfield, they fought too much to last very long. I was at UF from 74-79 fall. I thought I was so smart to have my final quarter in football season; too bad we went 0-10-1. They had many free concerts in the many fields on campus that are no longer, sadly. Saw Allman Bros, Skynyrd, Wet Willie, Molly Hatchet, and many others. The smell of Mary-Juana permeated the fields.
I was at UF from 73-79. Free concerts I remember on North lawn were Chick Corea, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Bill Monroe. Remember seeing Elton John in the Gator gym. Saw him in Sacramento couple of years ago on the farewell tour - same band. Does anyone in this age group remember the Halloween Ball on the lawn next to the library when the musical act was Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen?
saw the beach boys, linda ronstadt, the eagles, bob dylan all at florida field in the late 70's early 80.s
Never saw the Lost Planet Airmen, but have a lot of their music. Love 'em. I saw Mudcrutch a lot during my Gainesville days, plus Johnny Rivers, the Association, Beach Boys, Grand Funk RR, Sly & The Family Stone, Pacific Gas & Electric, The Youngbloods, Sweetwater and others I can't remember right now. I, also saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Jax Coliseum with Cat Mother & The All Night Newsboys as the opening act when I was a senior in high school, November 1968. That was the best concert I ever attended.
I'd be grumpy to if it took me 9 years to get out of school ! I realize there are some advanced degrees in that time frame but the statement was just to wide open to not take a shot at it. As they say, "just kidding"!
