I saw that and was just too depressed to post it or anything else. I just cannot take any more what my fellow citizens think is right

To be fair to Abbott this is only slightly worse than these people want to treat actual citizens

    Nothing Christian about it.
The trooper nails it when he talks of them being made in God's image.

    We have to be better.
The problem is huge. Being inhumane is not the solution.

    Hypothetical question:
Would you leave your front doors open if strangers were entering your neighborhood?
Now what if those strangers were also known to be desperate criminals?

Wouldn't leave the front door open. But if I saw a person struggling in the heat and needing humanitarian help in my neighborhood, I would give them water and possibly food. I'd also ask if they needed and/or wanted more help, and do my best to find someone or some agency who could potentially help them. What I wouldn't do is make it more difficult for this person to get the aid they need, which is essentially leaving them to die. High today in metro Phoenix is supposed to be around 118, by the way.

As for desperate criminals, border crossers who come in and request asylum are breaking no laws. And even if they don't ask for asylum, they are only committing a misdemeanor. If a desperate person in Phoenix was j-walking to find water and needed help, I'm going to ignore the misdemeanor he's committing and get him help first and foremost.

What if it were hundreds or thousands of people and your time and resources are limited?
Help starts with our federal government who opened this Pandora's Box in the first place.
And sorry, but they are breaking our laws because they're flooding our borders rather than
applying for citizenship the way the rest our ancestors did.

Everybody can potentially hurt me. Someone seeking and needing humanitarian aid is less likely to hurt me if I help them. That is, unless they have some mental illness. But you can't diagnose mental illness on site.

We are supposedly the greatest country on Earth. If we have limited resources, we need to find a way to increase them. Limited resources has never really been an issue with immigration in this country, however.

Traditionally, about 1% of Mexico's population emigrated to the US between the start of WWII through the last recession in 2010. Many came legally through the Bracero Program. Between that program's end and Reagan's amnesty, over a million more become legal in 1986. We tried stopping them by expanding BP numbers from 2,000 to over 20,000, and yet, they still come. We built a wall, and they still come. And when have we run out of food, water, or shelter during this time? Never.

Since the end of the last recession, the number of Mexicans coming have dropped. But the number of total undocumented immigrants have remained steady, as more are coming from C. America and S. America. And despite all of Trump's attempts, he accomplished nothing when it came to slowing undocumented immigration.

The only thing that slowed immigration was the recession and COVID restrictions for a short time. Meanwhile, our current unemployment is under 4%, and in Florida, which just passed its own immigration laws, is leading the country in inflation. Think labor shortages due to less immigrants could be a possibly reason why? Hint. The answer is yes.

First and foremost, we should treat our fellow humans desperate enough to attempt to cross a river or walk through the desert to get here humanely. If we don't, we shouldn't claim being the best country on Earth. Second, we should do what two bi-partisan committees suggest we do to address the immigration issue, which is create an expanded guest worker program.

When did your ancestors come over? Because, if it was before 1924, they just showed up, were written down, and allowed into the country. No applying for citizenship involved.

They aren't flooding our borders. Stop with the hyperbole to justify this brutality.

This is how they rationalize everything evil about this country and its treatment of people. Against the death penalty? What if they killed your wife? Dont want a cruel border policy? What if the border crossers came to your house to take your stuff? Dont think we should run over protestors with your car? What if the protestors were in front of your house? Always with the hypotheticals to appeal to the lizard brain.

I am pretty sure that my mother’s side of the family came to America in about 1912. I am guessing that because my aunt was born on a ship in the territorial waters of the UK on the way to the US in approximately 1912 and ended up with duel citizenship. I believe that my father’s side of the family came to America about 125 years ago.

In America we call it 'duel' citizenship, because of all the guns
