By: Gentry Hawk -- July 15, 2023 With fall camp right around the corner, Gator Country has started previewing the 2023 football season by breaking down each position on Florida’s roster. Position Group Breakdown: Cornerback | GatorCountry.com
Thanks, ET... It appears this group is pretty stout! I'm excited for the cornerbacks. We have the talent, the coaching and some decent experience. I hope they can pick off some balls and defend the pass really well in the altitude. Go Gators.
Sounds like more hype than substanse to me, which is fairly typical for this writer. Just when he started writing better, he falls back to old/bad habits. Regarding Jason Marshall, he says Marshall has earned a 1st round draft grade, but fails to reveal who gave him this draft grade. I would speculate that the author gave him the grade as I did a quicl draft grade google search and see that Marshall is projected to be a late 2nd round pick. The author goes on to say that Marshall is one of the best CBs in the country (making him to be aprojected AA???), but only averages 1 pick per year, 2 tackles/year. Not the productivity of a top CB. Don't get me wrong, I truly hope that JM comes through this year, but this article was written with O&B glasses and doesn't hold water.
How many more DBs are we bringing in for 2024? I'd like to see us with at least 12 good SEC type scholarship DBs on the team next year.
Not the author of the article, but ESPN gave Marshall a first round grade. I believe it was 28th overall pick to the Cowboys if I’m not mistaken.
I just checked and they had him at 27th. NFLDRAFTBUZ.com has him late 2nd round (9th CB overall). The author should cite his source, otherwise, it sounds like his projection.
This is the second time you've been unhappy about something and called-out a Gator Country writer . . . although you probably didn't even realize you had insulted two of Gator Country's writers instead of the same one. You're also the only one who has done it at all, as far as I recall, as most are universally happy and appreciative of the looks we get into the Florida programs. You might want to consider apologizing when you wrongfully accuse someone of "manufacturing" a fact and are then proven completely wrong. Gator Country asks all our great writers to give opinions so they shouldn't be called out for doing so . . . and they won't be in Swamp Gas or Awesome Recruiting or NBN. If your opinion is different, just discuss why. You apparently put more stock into a website than ESPN as it relates to sports so folks can decide on their own.
I was trying to offer construction critisim in hopes that they will improve upon their trade. I didn't put more stock into that website over ESPN, it was just the first one that opened on his draft ranking. Who is to say that ESPN is right? At any rate, the aurthor should cite his source, then no comment would be necessary. As it were, it appeared to be his opinion of the draft rank. I'm not rying to be a grammer Nazi (I didn't point out a typo), I just want him (and all of your writers) to improve. Aren't writers supposed to use 2 sources before publishing a story, did he have 2 sources with a 1st round draft rank? I'll try to tone it down.
